And with the Windies beating Australia, two great finishes to Tests within hours of each other.

I caught the end of the Windies-Aus game on the radio, and I think the Windies win takes the prize for being the most special (unless Newport County stage a late comeback against Man U).

Oh well.

In the cricket, it's lovely that the Windies won and drew the series, winning in Australia for the first time in a generation.  But I think it's just shaded by the sheer unlikeliness of an England win.

Not so nice to welcome back crowd violence at the football, though.

A dual forecast on West Indies and England both winning would have been a valuable ticket indeed....

What is it with the Talksport commentators and the test in India - they're like a football commentator shouting and ranting . . .  nothing like the gentlemanly, soothing sounds of TMS (and there's no analyst)

Just in case anyone's interested, I hadn't realised there was a YT channel for the TalkSport test match commentary:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaAe37zdTME

Bit of an uphill struggle at the moment. 50 wickets, 500 runs needed.
It is simpler than it looks.

What is it with batsmen stepping away just as the ball is about to be released?  Stokes and Root both doing it in this innings.  AFAIC if the bowler is into his last 3 or 4 delivery strides then either you face up or risk dismissal if you leave the stumps unguarded and they're skittled.

Also the usual shaking of the head from Root as if he's been unfairly dismissed.  You're out - walk off!

Excellent! The partnership reaches 27. Only another 479 needed to win...
