Patagonia Houdini running jacket or similar: opinions?
« on: 02 January, 2024, 01:14:22 pm »
For those 5k's when the weather is a little less than ideal.

I am not a fair weather runner but a dry upper body I find helps massively.

I like the look of the Patagonia Houdini so am wondering if anybody here has experience of it before I buy, or, can recommend something else.

Many thanks in advance.

I have no knowledge of it, but your post might be better in Reviews or Knowledge, cos here in Classifieds it looks like you're selling one.

Yes indeed.  My bad.

I've not used the Patagonia but I can see it is nylon.  If I ran 20-30mins (yr 5k time may vary) then I would be wetting (sweating) this from the inside.
Depending on budget have a look at Salomon Bonatti & Montane.
I run in a thin, light Berghaus which they don;t appear to sell anymore

I’ve used one of these for a few years, get on well with it, I don’t find I get too sweaty in it and paired with a t-shirt it keeps the wind off quite nicely.  It isn’t really waterproof but then I don’t think the Houdini is either, you would probably be okay in a short light shower.

Patagonia calls the Houdini "weather resistant", and does not list it under rainwear on their US website. I carry mine in case of rain on long runs or walks, but protection against a short light shower is about as much as I expect.
