Recommend somewhere to eat on A1 North of Newcastle
« on: 10 August, 2019, 08:55:40 pm »
Please.
We need somewhere for lunch en route to the ferry next week. I've enjoyed the Fisherman's Arms at Craster before but last year we couldn't get near the place as all the car parks were full.
So any recommendations of somewhere nice to eat not far off the A1 that we might be able to get into appreciated :)

Jan and I went here some years ago: https://audela.co.uk/

A bit pricey and a bit poncey for my liking (in my view, quantity trumps quality almost every time as far as food is concerned) but it was undoubtedly good.

there are also plenty of places in Alnwick. Alnmouth, too, has a number of very food eateries.

We stayed at the Sun Inn in Alnmouth and thought it was very good.

If you like proper fish & chips, a detour into Seahouses will be worthwhile. Spoilt for choice and all a short walk from each other, Pinnacles is the one that gets a lot of reviews, but I prefer Lewis's (based on one visit to each and I'll try Neptune next time)

If you go further inland there’s a very good fish and chip shop in Coldstream. But as has been said, Seahouses has great ones.
It is simpler than it looks.
