The old "I think I'm a lesbian in a male body" is actually so old now that it's getting seriously offensive, particularly when the person saying it is actually serious.  Especially when he follows it up by "will you and your girlfriend have a threesome with me" and then PUTTING HIS HAND IN MY HAIR!

Hmmm, possibly almost a rant.  Definitely going down as the low-point to an otherwise absolutely awesome weekend!

Since reading this, I've had an earworm.  It's called Ladykiller by Lush:

Quote
Here we go, I'm hanging out in Camden
Drinking with my girlfriends on a Saturday night
This guy says, "come and meet my girlfriend"
She's sitting in the corner looking rather uptight
So I say "hello" and I try to be nice
But I see he's feeling itchy
Trying to play us off each other
"Girls, girls, please don't fight"
(you get the picture)
Hey you, the muscles and the long hair
Telling me that women are superior to men
Most guys just don't appreciate this
You just try convincing me you're better than them
So he talks for hours 'bout his sensitive soul
And his favourite subject is sex

I don't think he even really wanted it
But, Christ, this guy's too much
(I wanna tell him)
I'm as human as the next girl, I like a bit of flattery
But I don't need your practised lines, your school of charm mentality so
Save your breath for someone else and credit me with something more
When it comes to men like you, I know the score, I've heard it all before
(Here comes the next one)
Blondie was with me for a summer
He flirted like a maniac but I wouldn't bite
I'm weak and he was so persistent
He only had to have me 'cause I put up a fight
Oh God, the boy had such an ego
He liked to talk about himself all day and all night
You think you're such a ladykiller
But you were nothing special 'til you turned out the light
When he's nice to me he's just nice to himself
And he's watching his reflection
I'm a five foot mirror for adoring himself
Here's seven years' bad luck
(I wanna tell him)
When you say you love me you're just flattering your vanity
But I don't need your practised lines, your school of charm mentality so
Save your breath for someone else and credit me with something more
When it comes to men like you, I know the score, I've heard it all before
Ooh, you're such a ladykiller, always on a winner, thinking that you're in there
Oh boy, you're such a ladykiller, super sexy mister, call it what you will, oh
You think you're such a ladykiller, I just bet you're still there, posing in the mirror
Hey girls, he's such a ladykiller, but we know where he's coming from and we know the score.
(Author: M. Berenyi)

I was particularly reminded of the lines in bold.

Still feeling a bit 'blergh' - probably a hold-over from yesterday's hypoglycaemic episode, and now my back has decided that it wants a piece of the action, more than likely in protest to last night's thrash-round-the-lanes-on-an-86"-gear.

My children won't change my puncture.
How many times have I done it for them?
If this is how they react to a minor incapacitation they're going to be in for a big fucking shock if I really get crip'd.

Gits.

Have you suggested some of the wonderfully embarrassing things they'd have to help you with if both hands were out of action?

As a teenager in the 60s, one of our mates managed to end up with both arms in casts and slings.
He asked if he could come to the local with us.  We were emphatic with the noes.
"But you can help me drink"
"That's not what we're worried about"

So I ordered a new (waterproof) hat and paid extra for the expedited delivery because I need it tomorrow when I'm out in the rain all day.

They've chosen a carrier based in Newbury  (I'm not going over there to collect it; it will cost another tenner in petrol and I have other things to do on Saturday).  What's the betting they try and deliver in the three hours when no-one is in?

I only wanted first class post and it pushed through the letterbox, or left with next door  ::-)

Couldn't have it sent to the office as I'm at a hotel "awayday" today.

Fulfilment - the pile on the arse of Internet shopping.

Bugger!

Whyohwhyohwhyohwhy did I go and look on fleabay?

Why did I search for Carlton bikes?

Why then did I look at a particularly nice green one?

I have now found out it is at a local junk shop antiques place, which just happens to be en-route from the car park to the LBS where I need to go today.....

I'll say it again. BUGGER

The first online retailer to understand this will make a killing.

In the spirit of the Grumble Thread...  it's frustrating that Amazon (who I generally love) have a delivery option called "First Class" which still doesn't guarantee they'll ship by Royal Snail.  I had a phase of paying the premium because Super Saver too often seemed to mean HDNL.  But actually, both first class and super saver seem to have similar RS:HDNL ratios.

At least Amazon don't seem to use Shittylink.
Half term's when the traffic becomes mysteriously less bad for a week.

why have junk shops turned in to antique shops, still selling the same old junk, and could someone please explain why a 1980's bike is considered
vintage

:) You've looked at it too then ferret? :D

I, and my marriage, are safe.  The bike IS NOT A CARLTON, it merely has the stickers on it.  No sign of a serial number anywhere.  Oh and it has terminal tin worm.

I walked away.

They do. And DPD. And $DEITY knows how many others.

At least CityLink and DPD (also known as 'Dave's Parcel Delivery' in the office) seem to deliver things on time, in contrast with the shower of shit that seem to work for HDNL.

What annoys me most is that Amazon claim that they can't offer customers a choice of courier. Really? I can think of several on-line emporia that give you just such a choice and they don't have anything like the manpower of Amazon.

Oh Met Office.  You used to have a website which showed information clearly, and worked.

Now you've got one that hangs for ages every time it is asked to show information.

Why meddle?

Your taxes at work ... heaven forbid that they'd want to, say, improve the quality of their forecasting.
I also think that the new Met Office website is a steaming pile of Web-2.0

So do I.

It also seems to assume you'll only want to know the weather where you are at any one time, so you have to change your default location every time you look up anywhere else.

Well, looks like more trips to xcweather instead

xcweather has a much better website, but I'm less impressed by the quality of the weather that they're forecasting.  It seems to be a lot wetter than that prescribed by the Met Office.

Why not just use yr.no ?

I carefully looked at the forecast on both yr.no and the met office sites before every audax and long ride I rode last year. The met office predictions bore no resemblance to what actually happened whereas yr.no were spot on. If they predict rain between 2 and 3pm then I put my waterproof on after lunch!

Because, until about 30 seconds ago, I didn't even know it existed :)

I like - uses proper meteorological symbols, proper units and everything; it's shockingly reminiscent of my undergraduate meteorology lectures. I now also know how York is written in Chinese, so I've learnt something new as well ;D
