Will you bite off more than you can chew?

512km, 21:00 start, 8.25AAA, 35h50, no sleep provisions!

Legend has it the Giant Bica lost his tooth on Llangrannog beach whilst eating berries from the cliff. The solitary rock is known as Carreg Bica, or Giant's Tooth.

With a late start cruise to Sennybridge along the Usk Valley through the night before into the hills at Trecastle. Then the Towy Valley passing through Carmarthen. Now let the hills begin proper like as you head to Fishguard, a former GWR port with their steam ships serving Ireland, then skim along the coast. Inland again to Tregaron and the infamous mountain road with its iconic phone & letterbox. Descending the Devil's Staircase can be just as daunting as climbing it! Then across Sennybridge Ranges via Mynydd Bwlch-y-Groes stopping in Sennybridge this time. Buckle up for The Devil's Elbow then you are into The Valleys, hopping across for the final leg home through Caerleon.

Dinner included before setting off. Two 24hr establishments on way out. Red Lion @ Sennybridge will be serving food late. Two 24hr establishments between there and finish. No sleep provisions en route. I aim to ride as well so a 'postal finish' - receipt from ATM then pop it through my door round the corner; if I'm back come on in. Any luggage left at start can be collect from mine Sunday morning.

Beer in the Pentre with sea views more my flavour!

I'm away now till late August. PC will be off. Any entries won't get the usual auto response confirmation so consider the paypal receipt as that. Notes, files etc will be with you in the week before the event.

Have a great summer all doing what you do; good luck on PBP, TCR etc etc

All booked in for this. Think it will be my most challenging ride all year.

Am booked into this too.
I think it will be my most challenging ride ever.
I might take a bivvy in case a DNF happens.
Any advice?

Did you buy a fixed gear in the end for Audaxing? Should be a fun ride on fixed.

Hahaha DaT - I'm sure it would be an awesome ride on a fixed.
Haven't gotten a fixed as yet, it's still in my headspace though.

A lovely bank of rain and wind sweeping across Wales at the moment is taking its toll. Those that have pushed on most likely will be in the clear now as Steve Bailey provides audax delights from is home over by the coast informs me it's clear there, and the wind will be behind.

good luck to them!

I looked at this route and thought - I've ridden 90% of this, what a lovely route!
And then I looked at the numbers ... nope, not a ride for me!

I look forward to some stories

Excellent write up.

I'm sure Emily was thinking, I know that person....ah so Doo is the famous one in the 2013 LEL video who says something along the lines "Is it Thursday, I think it's Thursday, so this must be St Ives" or something along those lines. Would have to watch video again to see what you said.

Thanks, Doo. Enjoyed reading this.

Audax must be one few hobbies where near complete strangers sing and recite nursery rhymes to one another in the middle of the night! With the exception of Mr. F B’stard in Merthyr McDonald’s, a great time was had by all!
