What did they do to break up the clot?

My late brother had this about 15 months ago - he had what sounded like some pretty unpleasant injections into the eyeball at Moorfields Hospital in London - IIRC he had about 6 over 3 months or so and his sight in the affected eye returned to normal.  However he did die from a respiratory related problem in November.
