Cycling with Parkinson's Disease - anyone else?
« on: 12 September, 2023, 11:24:21 am »
Although not officially diagnosed yet, I've been told I most probably have PD.

It's kind of knocked my hobbies on the head - vintage motorbikes and canoeing especially, but I'm trying to keep on cycling having bought a couple of electric bikes.

Just wondered if anyone else on here has the same problem.

Canoeing should still be possible.

I guess you might get issues with gripping a paddle. There are ways round that.

A guy from my old club paddled a good few miles recently to launch his charity - he doesn't have any hands. Can find out more about adaptions if you'd like.

It depends on which of the many symptoms he has and at what stage his condition is.

Also, he might be on meds that stabilize his symptoms which I'm currently not.

I just don't have the strength to paddle on my own and struggle with motivation.

Ah, lack of strength I can understand as an issue.
