One of those sleeping bag extensions for my Snugpak Softie 9 Hawk so that when I'm on my own I can have a bigger bag for one and feel less constrained!    I suppose I could just leave it on anyway even when for two's so that there's a tad more room.

a Gelert Solo (the zip went on the mythical Argos one; typically just after they sold out of new ones)

no idea how or if it will fit in the SQR

Just ordered a Titanium Spork - backpacking cutlery - tableware and a set of Carry On Chopsticks - backpacking cutlery - tableware from REI, along with a few other goodies. I'm rather tempted by the Trek Titanium Bowl - bowls & plates - tableware , but fiscal prudence won out over my lust for shiny toys (for a short while, anyway).

"it compliments the tableware set"

I have visions of a Viz-style spoof speech bubble saying to the tableware set "you're looking wuberly today"

I've just bought a Robens tarp, 4m x4m, with three extendable poles, for a tenner on eBay.
Tarp

The plan is to ditch the family tent in favour of two backpacking tents and the tarp. I think we'll need to have alternative poles to replace the Robens extendable ones as, when collapsed, they aren't short enough to fit on a rack or in a pannier.

Were you on the waiting list?
There aren't any Pipedreams listed on the Alpkit website. Will they get that far, or were they all sold in advance?

Finally found a 1-person tent that was big enough for me.. the power lizard/terra nova types are too damn small for someone of my belly size & height, but I found this one Tamarack Outdoors Helsport Ringstind Light is about a foot longer and six inches higher.  It's supposed to be a bit more robust too.

and the shop just called and offered me the 2-person version for the same price as the 1-person because they were out of stock of the 1 person...  ;D

will report back with pics when it gets here!

I'm not sure I'd fancy sleeping in something called the Ringsting.

One Opinel No. 8 Carbone, and a replacement waist-strap clip for the daysack.

(Yay proper shops)

Now to get a proper patina on this knife.  I need cheese, WD-40, teabags and some green sticks.

The Carbone = carbon steel, not stainless.  It takes a silly edge (and loses it too, but recovers it easily).
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

We got some stuff for Christmas, which I got round to looking at yesterday:

- 2 burner stove with grill*
- Double sleeping bag
- Inflatable double mattress

We were borrowing this stuff last season.

*I'd be quite happy cooking everything on my single burner Coleman 550B, but lighting up isn't a job for the faint-hearted - you can see why this guy uses a Very Long Match:

Funny you shold ask that.

Santa brought me a Trangia 27-8, Roban Downlight 500 sleeping bag, silk liner.  I have since bought a fuel bottle, Lifeventure Ti mug, Ti spork (on way from t'bay).  This is all to go with my Wild Country Duolite tourer tent and Exped downmat 7.  Just need to get rid of the snow now and we (read "me") are off.  Tally Ho!
