Abandonment
« on: 26 November, 2009, 09:16:57 pm »

I'd have locked it up and reported it to the police if I had of been carrying a lock. Had it been unreported/unclaimed, it would have made a good commuting bike.

Post your abandoned bike pictures...

Seen outside a pub somewhere N of MK yesterday. If its crew are still inside, then they're having one hell of a session.

Features: detatchable front rim, ancient derailleur.

Blimey.  I think that was there when I was last there about 4 years ago!  It might have had a wheel at that point.

Does that wheel have any spokes, or a hub?  ???

Nope, that was the amazing thing about it. Some toe rag must have wanted the hub really badly.

Not only the hub. When I went to get a hub respoked the guy cut the old spokes because that saves time. I would have expected that here too. Imagine someone there loosening all the spokes. He must have been there a while.

It was about 4 years ago, when we first moved into this flat. When we first saw it, it was a full bike. It's not there anymore though.

Sod that, someone appears to have nicked the headset!

There's something not right there - the rim and tyre look OK too.  Is it staged?

I think that's the point, everything that can be nicked has been. The tyre and rim are inside the D-lock and therefore un-nickable.

I'm surprised no-one turned up with a mini bottle jack to spring it open.  That must be one hell of a good D-lock or one hell of a crap frame.

It's not a staged photo - I was out with my children and saw it, and happened to have a camera with me.
