Porlex questions
« on: 24 June, 2015, 04:09:23 pm »
Well mine arrived from Amazon today, but other than a sticker on the box there is nothing else other than the grinder no instructions etc.

I am assuming that it is a porlex but is there any way of telling?

thanks

On the bottom of mine there's a stylized "P" followed by "Porlex", then on the next lines it says "JAPAN PORLEX" and then "Ceramic grinder for outdoor use"**.  Then there's an address, phone n° and patent n°.

On the central burr carrier, under the star-shaped effort, it also says "Japan Porlex".

First time I used mine I let my index finger dangle and ripped the nail down into the quick on the crank: either fold it well under or keep it sticking out straight.

** shit, I've been using mine indoors.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Put stuff in the top and grind.

The knob on the grindy bits has click adjustments. Wound right in and it reduces things to very fine powder. About 3 clicks out you get consistency suitable for espresso.
