I'd have thought something like this might be more practical.

Judging by the standard of english in that post, I guess this must be another "design student".

Come on guys, don't be so harsh on the poor guy.

Even if bike4all is a design student, they are at least showing some sense in coming to the font of all wisdom on the net.

Back  ;) to the OP's question:

Your suggestion might help support someone's back, but it will cause other problems.

Breathing - you are going to compress the chest, bad idea.

Interfere with leg movement - in a low position, your thighs will nearly be touching your chest.

recumbents are a better idea.

What's wrong with your back and legs?

It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

I've used one of these devices for years now; I call it "my fat gut".

You've inspired me to have this idea, does it work? Maybe we could go into production together?

Is that bobb?

It's bobb's recurring dream.

Might I propose the addition of a sturdy pannier rack to add to the possibilities raised by this invention?

Worlds of possibility! Indeed, with the simple addition of a 'lowrider' front pannier rack, such a thing can be effected:

I'm about to make a patent application for this device, I'll cut you in on the profits Ural.

Hmm...I think that last design may need some more work. Only one of the riders seems to be benefitting from the device.

Is it too late for this innovative design  to be entered (!) into the 'Audax Engerrland' cycling shirt competition?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

It has a certain something to it that should appeal to Johnny Foreigner for sure.

OK, I just wandered in here from the "Recent Posts" section....

I have no idea wtf you guys are up to, and I'm just going to quietly and carefully back slowly out again, leaving you to it and and pretending I did't see anything.

It's a valid point, perhaps a rather beefier frame is called for as well.

I do feel we still haven't plumbed the depths of potential that this invention offers.  For example - simply flip the device horizontally, and perform the 'MB Manoeuvre':
