I thought this fine example of parking so close to a level crossing that the barriers couldn't descend certainly deserved a special mention

A few weeks ago, here, where York Road curves left into the A106:

Yesterday, on Holywell Lane (here)

And the van parked in front of the car:

I am inclined to write to the company, but other than parking like tw@s, are they actually breaking any laws?

Only the one against teleporting onto the pavement.

In London there's a general prohibition against parking on the pavement: I suspect it depends on the traffic orders whether that cyclepath counts as pavement or not, but in any case IIRC the road markings apply to the whole of that side of the highway, so they're probably in contravention of the single red line restrictions.

Stopping on a red route is strictly forbidden.

Except of course for the lorry drivers on the inner ring road who think it's fine to park at 08:00 as long as they're within the red dotted box next to the sign that says "Red route: no stopping except 1 hour max between 10:00 and 16:00". Causing several kilometres of stationary traffic in both directions.

They may be able to make an argument that they were carrying out works on the cycleway and required to have their vehicles there. (I didn't say it was a convincing argument).

I think this would count: -

Stopping and parking
You can't stop or park on the parts of the red route with:

A wide red line (bus stops) or double red line
Pedestrian crossings
Zigzags
A pavement
Cycle lanes

In London, parked in pay-and-display bays. All now have parking tickets. Full story.
Surprised they even noticed them with such subtle paintwork...

I assume that parking tickets compare favourably to the cost of legitimate long-term parking in that part of London...

No. ^ They say £80 fines whereas a nearby multistorey car park charges £50 for 24 hours. But I assume paying a fine every day is a way of saying "I laugh at your petty laws."

Anyway...
Quote
Last year in November, Kensington and Chelsea council put a ban on motorists from revving engines, sudden acceleration and racing on the streets of Knightsbridge following complaints from residents.
Surely these are all illegal anyway. Motor racing on the highway is an automatic banning offence (or certainly used to be), and the others could fall under existing legislation. If anyone could be arsed to enforce it in the courts.

I love that the Lamborghini got 2 tickets. Presumably because the driver hadn't bought a ticket for either of the bays parked in?

This is why I favour clamping/towing away. Money doesn't do it, but inconveniencing the turds will. Oh, and crush their penis substitutes if they don't pay on time.

The alternative would be to link fines to income levels...

I reckon the tow truck would already be on it's way if it was a crappy Ford Fiesta or Nissan Micra overstaying the time.

Reckon Bojo would do this?

I think they were all towed away as well. Such a shame if that gold 'paintwork' got scratched.

So they hadn't paid and displayed then?  Well, they'd displayed, obviously, but ...

At least they're parked in the bays.  That in itself is a rarity.

I was looking for a decent photie of a snooker referree holding his hand over the balls looking for a gap,  but I failed.
