As we crossed the Severn Bridge this morning there was light snow or heavy frost visible on the Welsh hills, which aren't at that point any higher than our good Cuban* hills. It's being in a city that keeps them warmer. Somebody from one of the leafier and higher suburbs said they'd had heavy frost on their car this morning. Nothing more.

*Cuba = Counties that Used to Be Avon  :)

Oooooooh, I've just remembered there was some ice on today's ride!  :o It was frost and ice on a tarmac path through a grassy area, on the edges of Bristol - I'd have to check if it's City or South Glos, it may be that ice has now crossed the border! A lot of people walked over it, but I found it quite rideable - at walking speed because of all the people pushing their bikes in front of me.

Several flurries today.
Some of it is still sticking in the garden.
This evening the roads are almost sheet ice with bods and cans sliding about on untreated roads.
Went down (12% in places) to the local take away for some peshware nan on my ice bike - was fine as long as I did not try to stop and put a foot down....

Just very cold here and the rainshower yesterday has left anything ungritted (like the pavements) absolutely lethally slippery.

It sounds like it's going to be a bit frosty when I get back.  That'll be a bit of a shock to the system after a week of mild california weather!

Currently, according to my desktop widgets, it's 6°C here, but only 1°C in London.  It'll be something like 17 hours before I get back to London, so you'll have had a days worth of warmth, and it'll be cooling down again.

Actually,looking at the forecasts, it looks like the weather is just going to be getting progressively warmer when I get back.  The chances of a white Christmas (at least in the bottom part of the UK which I've checked) looks pretty remote.

It's gently snowing atm but we've had approx 25mm fall overnight.A lack of traffic & gritting make the road hereabuts very iffy so I'll be a DNF for the Derby CTC Belton Mince Pie ride :(

Well it isn't but the temperature fell to -0.1 deg C at 7.47 this morning. That's good work by the Met Office, who predicted 0.

Edit: and at 7.51 it was -0.2°C! The Met Office at Shoeburyness recorded -0.5°C.

Yet more snow in the last couple of hours.No vehicles on the road & everywhere is very very quiet.I may go down to the village for newspapers on the sledge :thumbsup:

-2 in the Vale of Usk at 11 pm last night, but +1 °C up here on the hill when we got home.

The drive up the back lanes was interesting at times. Not a day to be out early on a bike today, though by now it's sunny and passably warm.

No snow, but ice in the Vic Rooms fountains about 6 o'clock tonight. Winter has arrived!

But I still saw two girls - students most likely - sitting on the road making roll ups about half an hour after that. In my street too!  :o
