Been swowing for the last 2 hours or so in Swindon.  Settling on untreated surfaces too.  Accidents left right and centre.

I can run you home if cycling is too insane.  I have snow tyres.

I've got the MTB and the studs thanks Roger.
Looking forward to it to be honest.  I was surprised by how much of the NCN from Marlborough towards Chiseldon was uphill !!  Looking forward to some downhill on the way home.

It'll be easy to see.  Bike lights are amazing when everything is white.

In other news...the sea has frozen in Poole Harbour!  If it gets much worse the Sandbanks ferry will need to be replaced with an icebreaker  :o

A very little dusting settling on some surfaces in Croydon, like the shed roof, and recycling boxes. Not much on the ground so far.

Turned to rain here. Feels a bit warmer than this afternoon too, I think.

Still raining here. Now up to 2.5oC so I'm guessing it will stay that way too.

Well just north of Tring very fine spicules fell foo a couple of hours from 4-6, about 5mm cover in the garden, and on our (dead end) lane, but my guess is the main roads are still clear. Starting to fall gently again now.

It's been snowing here for several hours now.The roads are becoming impassable unless you have 4WD.Indeed the A50 is closed in Stoke.

Sadly, the blowing snow and generally poor visibility did not stop some people driving like complete and utter tools.

The short ride home from Mordor Central earlier was positively terrifying.  It's a route that I'm extremely familiar with, mostly on a dual carriageway with narrow lanes, so it's primary position (plusminus pothole-avoidance factor) the whole way.  For some reason as soon as there's a blizzard everyone decides to try to squeeze past the cyclist rather than making proper lane-changes.  Because that's obviously a good idea.   ???

I may have been onna upwrong, but I had plenty of lights and a bright yellow jacket, so it's not like I was hard to spot.

2 inches all over at present - 1/2 way there, I suspect.
No more idiot motons on our roads, TTL.
Tempted to go out for a ride, though...  :)

It's settling everywhere in Croydon, but it's still just a very light dusting, maybe a ¼ of an inch at most.  It'll have to get a lot heavier before we'll end up with anything near the few inches that was being talked about.
Actually, it is rocket science.

The last three hours' readings show a marginal rise in temperature, humidity and wind speed and a fall in barometric pressure. The moon is now shrouded in cloud but still visible in an "it's about to precipitate" kind of way.

The temperature forecasts over the next couple of days, which will see Monday creep up to about 2°C makes me think this will last a bit longer than the normal westerly snow-turned-to-rain scenario, but Tuesday sees temperatures of 4°C so I'm not sure that it's worth fitting my snow tyres. I can always postpone Monday's teaching session until the end of term.

Snowed here for about an hour.

I've just driven through it up the A1. Some prat in a Range Rover appears to have misjudged the stopping distance for the weight of their tank at Biggleswade roundabout and  swiped a Mini into the verge.  It's OK though it wasn't a proper one O:-)

Might have to go out.

Indeed, if we do get a moderate layer I'll have to take Vince out, and see what it's like, before the cars, melting and refreezing reduces it to a frozen rutted mess.

Forecast (for Londres) says tonight, overnight, is it - turning to sleet in the wee small hours.

No further precipitation forecast for the rest of the week.

If you want to go out and play, tonight's the night  :)
