The mean temperature for March ended up at 3.6°C. I saw lots of Met Office reports reckoning it would be the coldest March since 1962, when the national mean was 2.8°C, but I haven't heard what the national mean was this March. It hard to say how Southend would have fared. Normally we expect to be warmer and sunnier than most places, but when the wind's in the east it can be bloody bitter. Mrs. Wow and I have just completed the journey home from Bath and the wind was noticeably colder and stronger when we got off the train.

Oh, and a flake or two of snow fell yesterday afternoon at the Bath YH.

On Friday I noticed them cutting the square on Llandysul cricket pitch.  :D
Today I arrive in Brum to find my front garden (north facing) still full of snow.   >:(

Thank god I'll only be here for two days.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

If you get your roller out you can turn it into a skating rink.  :D

Last night, 3rd April, snowing in Brighton. Big flakes. Didn't settle much, but it still counts.

This morning. Periodic swathes of pea-like snow. Again, not settling, but it's the thought that counts, as they say.
Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex

The good news is yes.

The bad news is that it'll be when hell freezes over. ;D

Just walked up to Borough High Street and back in continuous snow.  Not heavy, and not settling, I'm pleased to say, but snowing in April is dashed unsporting, what?

I didn't believe it at first , I thought it was just more bits of white paint drifting down from next door where they have some exterior decorators plying their trade.

Snow in one end of Suffolk, and hail at the other. It settled a bit on roofs. Mostly just cold wet and horrible. No change there then.

It's quite impressive, this March matching 1947's.

March 1947 Wiki entry

Quote
On 4–5 March came heavy snow which left drifts across much of the country with some lying 7 metres (23 ft) deep in the Scottish Highlands.[4] On 5 March one of the worst British blizzards of the 20th century occurred.[5] Food supplies were again affected by the snow-bound roads and in some places the police requested permission to break into delivery lorries stranded by the snow.[5]

On 10 March milder air of 7–10 °C began to move north across the country from the south west, rapidly thawing the snow lying on low ground.[4] After such a long frost the ground stayed frozen, causing much surface run off which resulted in widespread flooding. Further heavy snowfalls occurred as the milder air pushed northwards. On 14 March the deepest ever recorded depth of snow lying in an inhabited location was measured at Forest in Teesdale in County Durham at 83" or 211cm. On 15 March a deepening depression moved in from the Atlantic, bringing heavy rain and gales.[4] It was the start of the wettest March for 300 years.

I think we should count ourselves lucky!

Yep, nice large flakes of SNOW here just east of Reading, not settling thankfully as I have not refitted the winters to the bike and wouldn't fancy riding to the station home otherwise.

It's giving it snieg in the Lea Valley.
It's not settling.
Does that mean it's unsettling?

I was surprised to feel a few flakes of cold white stuff on my face as I rode down Cheltenham Road today (and even more surprised to find the road totally closed - a fire I think). Pathetic snow but eee it's a cold wind today!
