Well, that was a good start. Get home from a weekend away to find a teeny sprinkle of snow. On my way out to pick up the cats from Borstal I fall down our steps (I was heading for the shed to get some clearing implements). It feels like I've broken my arse.

We just had a heavy sleety shower. Temperature now close to zero under a clear sky - with wet roads and pavements. Hmm... time to fit the studded tyres. Or stay indoors.

My rooftop erection is claiming that the temperature is 1°C at present. There are no clouds and there is ice on the parked cars outside.

It's the lowest temperature here since 7th April.

Not snowing in Brighton. Nonetheless, it has been hailing like billy-o, and more blustery than the blustery day you could imagine here in Brighton. I think it was Philip Avery on BBC's R4 just before 1pm this afternoon who said it should be clearing the southeast. Pah!

There was very heavy rain with some hard bits in it around lunchtime near Basildon. As I cycled to Leigh this afternoon there was a sliver of melting slush at the base of a north-facing wooden fence, so it must have snowed a little earlier.

On checking, I've notices that at about 3 am today there was an air frost, and the minimum temperature was -0.2°C!
