The students have managed to scrape together enough snow from various bin lids to have a mini snowball fight.

The lumpy wet[1] non-settling snow that's been going most of the morning has been replaced by the finer blizzarding kind.  No sign of any of it settling.

[1] None of that carbon dioxide snow that they get in Matlock.

We'll have to keep an eye on what is happening. The forecast is clearly for loads of snow but the temperature just above freezing. That can often mean quite deep accumulations anyway.

I just phoned the B & B. No snow accumulated so far. it's mostly fallen as rain.

Couple of inches in the jungle hills of Surrey this morning, though the pointless wet stuff that was swiftly despatched by the subsequent rain. There was another flurry of fat flakes this afternoon but they didn't stick around.

Pretty good settle on the higher parts here. Some impressive snowcreatures on the Downs and Kings Weston. Turning slushy now.

Forecast tells me it’s snowing here but my eyes tell me it isn’t. Not a trace.

Holy cr@p! This weather is enough to drive anybody to drink.
Even on a Wednesday!

That is almost exactly what happened to us yesterday.  We had arranged to meet some friends for a drink yesterday evening and then the snow started late afternoon and has persisted.  We still walked to the pub (almost 1 mile).  Still snowing when we walked home, still snowing now.

It's not heavy but there is a settled inch or so in the garden and on the rooftops.  We know it's heavy when the street becomes impassable except by loons and couriers but at present the road is just damp tarmac.  In fact, it is clearer than it was at 11:00 p.m. yesterday evening.

Wet, miserable and 5°C here in not-so-Sanny Saarfend.

Bugger. OK, they are all tending towards the west side of the peaks and we are heading to Matlock - hopefully. Looking at -7°C there on Saturday morning. All the roads we might use are open at the moment (A127, M25, M1, A6). Tomorrow should be easier, I think.

It's moving North.
The police have posted that the A66 will be closed at the snow gates at 2pm.
Steady snow all morning here in the N. Pennines, settling but not a big accumulation   -  yet

Everything that can be charged has been done, AGA on flat out, thermoses filled.
No, you really can't expect us to trust you, Northern Powergrid.

About 150mm of it here in the middle of Powys, the farmer behind us has semi-cleared the road with his tractor and snowplough (the local authority certainly aren't ever going to do it!) so folk in 4x4's can get about, but we are still snowbound, not having a big chunky 4x4.  He needs to get it clear so the milk tanker can get through.

Forecast to get down to -10 tomorrow night.

We have plentiful stocks of wood for the stove, and food, as we have to do these things, living in the sticks as we do.

No snow here, just a bit of rainy sleet. The forecast says it’s snowing now but no precipitation of any kind.

I’m quite surprised how mild it is here, considering what is going on Oop Noorth. The temperature is currently 8.3°C, having reached a positively tropical 8.8°C at 1.50am.

-10°C forecast for Matlock for 24 hours’ time.

Rugby has had more snow overnight filling in the thaw gaps and it is now lightly topping up.  The forecast says that this top up dose will continue for the next few hours.

There was a lot of surface water yesterday evening so I suspect that beneath the pristine surface of snow lurks many an icy patch.

Snow overnight. A thin layer did settle so I just took a picture for the record because it is melting away fast. No more is forecast. In fact Monday might be 13C, they say.

About 15cm here. No chance of me getting to swim this morning, RWD vans don't like snow.
Reckon it'll be gone by mid afternoon.

The weather gizmo on my phone tells me that it is currently snowing.
It isn't.
It's been telling me it's snowing for several days now and, appart for a couple of hours earlier in the week, this has not been correct.
This, I believe,  is because the information is for a weather station 6.5 km away at 181 metres elevation.  Llandysul is only at 70 meters.
