Nothing settled but we did have a couple of good flurries earlier this afternoon in the Reading area.

More water into the already flooding Thames...

Snow here in Somerset. Wasn't laying when I popped out to the garage just now, but the patio table had a light covering.
I need to drive in tomorrow whatever as I have an appointment in town at lunchtime.

This morning it's been blue skies and sunshine with temp a little above zero.  I was a bit surprised when very fine snow started to fall out of nowhere. It didn't last very long. Not the slightest chance it could settle.

Slovakia I believe.

That is correct. To be more precise, the mountains are the High Tatras.

A dusting of powder, still falling, due to continue all day.

Just a dusting here. White and pretty, but it is only just covering the grass.

More sprinklings on the way though, so we might get enough to sledge.

There's a couple of interesting pilgrimage trails around there I believe (although I'm not sure if they're more in the Carpathians than the Tatras).

The High Tatras are the taller end of the Carpathian mountains. The tallest peak is pretty much in the centre of my photo, the one with a more rounded top, on which I see snow for 10 months of the year.

As for pilgrimage trails, I haven't a clue. Sorry.

Bit more overnight. looking at the picnic table, I reckon we have about 8-9cm 11cm lying, with a lot more on the way (looks at dark clouds). Just been and checked. Really decent snow, makes great snowballs.

It is remaining below zero, so any snow that falls is staying.

Roads are well gritted, but our car is starting to look a bit buried. No need to go out though.

It went on all day yesterday, was crunchy this morning, melted away from roads & footpaths now.

The Law here says that we're liable if someone is injured in falling on pavement that we haven't cleared. Great: cardiologist won't let me ride if it's less than 5°C but the Law says I've got to shovel snow in -6°?  Verily, the Law is an Arse.

So if you're prevented from clearing the pavement by your cardiologist, he's liable if someone falls on it. Solved!

I think here you would be more liable if somebody injured themselves on a bit of pavement that you had cleared. If it was the only clear bit it would be obvious who was to blame.
I once made the mistake of clearing the pavement outside my house. After the damp snow had refrozen my cleared bit became a sheet of ice. Local kids came to play on it.

This morning all around was sheet ice.
We didn't need to go out the front door, but as we were expecting delivery of a small parcel, we gritted the path from the gate at the road to the front door.
Silly sod of a delivery driver jumped over the wall instead of using the path!

Forecast was for 3mm of snow overnight, 2C.

Reality is another 3CM of snow and -1.

Currently 18cm according to the picnic table gauge. Would have to shovel snow to get car out.

Would be quite happy with this, but we are running out of heating oil. Ordered it over a week ago, might not get a delivery for another 7 days.

Oh well, if it comes to it, I can relocate my office in the living room and keep the peat fire going during the day.

Snowed another couple of cm here overnight. I was concerned my taxi was going to struggle but it was bang on time. Now I'm just delayed at the airport by an hour so far, let's hope it's not longer than that...

About 3mm of lying snow. Falling from an almost blue sky with the sun shining.
