It chucked it down this morning, while Mrs Dan was at the shops, but got back OK. Nice and sunny now, but no buses up here so the last of the presents will have to wait. I hope it clears before the evening, I'm supposed to be meeting mates to drink the Harvey's Christmas Ale.

It's throwing it down in Sittingbourne too. Which is a bit crap cos I've got to go up to Gillingham hospital shortly and my mate tells me that the Medway towns are awful at the mo. I'll have to try the train - if they can be bothered to run.

Temperature recordings at Northolt have shot up from minus nine to zero Celsius.
There's about 4" snow outside.
Brent Cross Temple of Mammon has closed due to snow.

Still no SNO in Derby, thank $DEITY.  Other than the light dusting on the grass from 3 days ago.  Roads, Paths, Pavements, Driveways - all clear.  For now.

On behalf of the East Midlands, I'd like to thank those areas closer to the sea for copping more than their fair share of moisture-laden cold air, and protecting the industrial heartland (and the nearby home of Real Ale) from the disruption that everyone else is getting.

Well we now have 6" in the last 2 hours here near Aylesbury. Glad I shopped last night!  Not sure about getting to work in Corby Monday tho - 64 miles. And if I don't I get no pay  :(  A bugger after 6 months unemployed!

And we've gone RED on the met office site!

Last night in the pub, I glimpsed a local paper.  An article suggested that Brum would largely miss out on today's predicted snomagedon.

So,  when I got up this morning it was snowing, and had obviously been doing so for some time.  It is still snowing and has not stopped at any time during the day at all.
Even the main road at the end of my road is becoming rapidly impassable with the sno build up. 
It's coming up to 4 o'clock now and the light is beginning to fade.  If this carries on much longer into Sunday, the Birmingham Monday commute will be interesting.

The snow on the pavement outside my house is quite deep just now and it's quite fun to walk in.  But after freezing tonight it's going to be hell.

'er in Wales (Mrs B) has been marooned since Friday morning.

Just been sledging on the bund around the Leyland Truck Factory. The trains on the West Coast Mainline are trailing plumes of dry snow. It looked quite spectacular when a Pendolino came past at speed.
