The 23-year-old driver missed a bend in the road and drove through a railing before careering up an embankment and flying 35 metres through the air.

Depends on the angle of the embankment and where in the "flight" he hit the roof, plus the height of the top of the embankment w.r.t. the church.

Assuming an embankment slope of 30 degrees and that he hit the roof, 35m from the embankment, at the top of the arc, then he would have needed to be doing about 60mph.
