DIY light fittings
« on: 15 May, 2013, 11:09:36 pm »
I saw this today and I got a few ideas, does the panel know where one could get just that, without the cardboard, when it comes to a led light.

I have a few ideas that I would like to make into a lamp shape object and I would like to do my own lighting if possible if we ever get out own digs.

So where does one get light fittings from with out the rest of the lamp, pretty much the bit you attach the bulb to? B&Q and maplin didn't at first search have what I would like.

If you want to create an LED light like that, unless you're happy to work from single LEDS and solder them I think you're probably looking at buying an LED strip and cutting it to length - something like http://www.nationallighting.co.uk/LED_Lighting/LED_Fittings/LED_Strip_Lighting/microflex/pid/576 perhaps.

It'll need a transformer and various other bits though - may not be an economic solution.

+1 on the led strip idea, but go for the 230v variant which does exist.

A traditional lampholder and bulb will be too heavy I think. Either way CPC will do both.
