Presumably the rovers have already mapped out certain areas they intend to visit. But I look forward to GarminMars getting hacked and ruining the martionauts' Strava segments.

Check out quantum inertia navigation. Invented for nuclear subs so they do have to pop up to check GPS. Super-sensitive accelerometers.
Probably something like this.

SINS - Ships Inertial Navigation System. Worked a treat for the Polaris subs.

It is only flying for 90 seconds. I got the impression from the video that it will be using accelerometers and its camera system.
