Rollers?
« on: 06 February, 2018, 09:18:23 am »
not that I'm planning it, but I was pondering the possibilities of putting the Grasshopper on rollers and wondered if it is at all possible to use a recumbent bike on rollers.

I have to think outside the box because I lost the box a long time ago  ::-)

It can be done - I know that my chum Fast Freddy Markham used sometimes to ride a GRR on rollers - but how easy it is would be another matter entirely.

I don’t see why not. Technique would be the same.

Try these. Dead easy to ride on. Much easier than conventional rollers.

I found a Streetmachine on a turbo trainer to be rather bouncy.  Dunno how that translates to rollers.

Worked  very well unfortunately the rear brake calliper somehow got wrecked.

At that price, they ought to be.

My M5 was OK on the turbo, apart from the fact that the NOS turbo tyre I had seemed to be covered in some gummy residue which completely fouled the roller and had me thinking my legs had turned to spaghetti

I used rollers as part of my BM training.  I was borrowing a front-wheel drive carbon recumbent with 20 inch wheels – Mr L will no doubt know whose it was – so the rollers had to go back to front, with the two at the front and one at the back.  Needless to say, it made steering to keep one's balance a little interesting at first, but had it cracked in a couple of days.
