Not appropriate to his job, but when I was on the train the other day, there were a couple of salespersons.  One took a call, and answered 'Hello, Steve Austin here'

Not a job either, but the mother of the conjoined twins who have been separated at Gt Ormond St is called Angela Formosa. That's a pretty good twin of name-surname - Linda Formosa would have been even better!

The PM programme on R4 had a piece about San Francisco city council attempting to curtail nudity in public, restricting exposed genitals to public parks, beaches and officially sanctioned parades. Eddie Mair had the rare honour of interviewing one of the Commissioners in charge of this project, one Scott Wiener. Our Eddie did a much better job of covering his amusement than a certain James Naughtie did so famously when he interviewed Jeremy Hunt a few months ago.

Just saw Susannah Clapp .  Her name is rather appropriate for a theatre critic (although she'd be equally well suited to work at an STD clinic).

Pauline Cutting was Head of A&E at Ysbyty Gwynedd. (She was better known for her work in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon).

My parents had a news agency when I was a kid. One of the girls that delivered newspapers was named Adelie Reid. I kid you not.

There was an article in our localish freesheet, the Croydon Advertiser, concerning the proliferation of brothels in South Croydon.  Illustrated with a photo of the Council Member for Community Safety , Councillor Simon Hoar.

Father Stephen Wang, dean of studies at Allen Hall Seminary, says it is a sacrifice that many priests manage. "It's possible when people have an inner maturity and the faith and support structures are in place." For him it is no different to the challenge of a husband trying to be faithful to his wife.

There is no celibacy get-out in the form of masturbation, says Wang. "For every Christian, masturbation, sex before marriage and sex outside marriage are wrong and something you shouldn't be doing.

"Masturbation is forbidden for every Catholic. The reason is that it makes us more selfish, more introverted and less able to open your heart in love to other people."

Of course, there are many millions of Christians who would disagree with Wang's position.

Spring Snow - thousands of animals feared dead.

"We are very, very, anxious," said Carolyn Lamb from NFU Scotland, who added that the full toll would not be known until the snow melted."
