I finally got round to replacing my dead(ish) Garmin Edge 510 recently but I'm reluctant to throw it out and wondering if it might be fixable. It was basically fine until the dog got hold of it and used it as a chew toy. So I replaced the screen/digitiser assembly, but that didn't cure it, so then I replaced the battery.
Now it will power up but only while connected to an external power source - the battery level shows 0% and it won't take a charge. If I disconnect the external power, it shuts down immediately. I have successfully ridden with it connected to a battery pack, but there's always a risk that the USB cable will work itself loose.
It's quite possible that I was a bit cackhanded in soldering the new battery, so I'm wondering if that might be the problem.
Any of you electronics whizzes out there have any other ideas? Is it worth trying to fix?
