Suggestions for private collaboration tool - posts and comments

I'm looking for a private collaboration tool, something  like a blog, but it needs to be private and support comments/chat. Something like an old style bb possibly, possibly a forum, for a group of about 12. I'm considering setting that up on my "own" server running wordpress or the like, but keeping it secure is something that might be troublesome. Any thoughts on a service that supports that type of thing?

Gitlab.

Create a private project, give your collaborators access. You then get a wiki, version control of files, and tracking of issues.

I would suggest a wiki as well, having used one for that very purpose. That or a simple phpbb forum restricted to members only.

If you are willing to self host, look at Nextcloud. It sounds like it will cater to all of your requirements. It is like dropbox on steroids, with plugins for just about anything you can imagine, ranging from video conferencing to collaborative document editing. I think you could use the PicoCMS plugin for web pages/wiki. I find the deck tool immensely useful for managing tasks, kanban style.

Similarly, gitlab community edition can be self hosted, I also use a tool called gitea which has much the same functionality, but with smaller resource requirements.
