Reading elsewhere, I think one of them was frank9755 who lives over the (electronic) way.

He looks like this. But isn't always surrounded by a ship:

There are two ways you can get exercise out of a bicycle: you can
"overhaul" it, or you can ride it.  (Jerome K Jerome)

Frank isn't always aboard a ship, but he is frequently smiling.

Was that ZigZag I espied heading east on the  Mile End Road onna single-speed at around 17:45 this evening.
Or is my eyesight getting worse?
You were too far away, and there was too much traffic noise for me to make my presence known - if it was you....

Pete Mas

We share a good chunk of commute nowadays, since I moved to twickenham.

Nice to see him and chat about silly French hills.
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

I think Adrian,  full time grumpy git OTP and Ianrauk, also sometime OTP were meant to be on that one. Long Martin, northern monkey who did LEL, is also on The List I think.

Riding at the back, I did indeed wave back.

Unknown forumite between 11 & 12 this morning, heading from Hungerford in the direction of Kintbury. Pink YACF jersey, beard, accompanied by a woman not wearing YACF gear.

Who was it?

I was with Mrs B & several others on a 90 mile Reading CTC ride to Lower Chute, organised by Cardiac OTP.

Heh. It sounds like us, but we were on a ferry somewhere between France and the UK.

Aha!

So . . . who might it have been? Fairly burly bloke, IIRC, & wearing a cap. Both middle aged? I didn't get a long look. Didn't notice anything distinctive about the bikes.

Burly? Middle-aged?? Love you too... ;)
I'd offer you some moral support - but I have questionable morals.

Ahh, I had that recently too.
I had someone I'd met on a ride looking for me on a Facebook cycling page, looking for the 'Older Gent' in his 'mid 40s'!

When did burly become unfavourable? It's what I'd call a solid, muscular bloke. And middle-aged is descriptive, not derogatory.

If either of you can think of a better description which conveys the desired information, please share it.

What's happening to language? Sturdy is now taken as a euphemism for fat by many people, which is bloody stupid. Now it seems we're about to lose burly, which is just as daft. Should I have written "differently slim"?
