Oh yes, the tea rooms that closed for lunch, but opened all night for cyclists.

Do you remember Brian C puking very loudly in the loo, Hughie and Ruth echoing through the place.

Those of you who like the West End Cafe just enjoy hanging out in places where there are loads of blokes dressed head to toe in leather.  ;)
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Was that from the High Peak Trial when Jim Hopper got frostbite in his fingertips?

Was it Lee Shale who was sat outside waiting for them to open when you came along and banged on the door demanding tea?

I think a certain house in Poole is a significant place in AUK history.
Drew Buck's house too.

Has anyone mentioned The Tutti Pole in Hungerford yet?  It's overpriced, the service can be a bit random and they look at a £10 note as if you've just crapped on the counter, but it features heavily in the southern audax calendar and it's so big that there's normally somewhere to sit.

The two Great Attractors for Southern English rides are New Alresford and Lambourn, though I'm not aware of any (?) audaxs that control at Lambourn itself.  Lots and lots and lots of routes seem to go through/near it though.

The Cheddar Gorge had an info in Lambourn though I don't think that really counts.

You can get to Membury Services by CAR ??

It's one of the few services with no barriers on its non-motorway entrances.  It's the unofficial M4 jn14.5, used by everyone in Lambourn.

Just as Michaelwood is M5 Jct 13¾.

Thorne - I seem to end up there with alarming frequency. Nothing wrong with the place; I'm just baffled as to why it's so often en route.

I think it's tied up with the three old Santa Auks living nearby.

I think so.  I got a puncture halfway up Snake, and while I was mending it Sheila was fantasizing about doing something unrepeatable with a nearby sheep.

But my main memory is of Rikki Goode trying to stir his mug of coffee with two hands, and failing messily.

I'm reliably informed that first is the only significant place in Audax.
It is simpler than it looks.
