Go away and organise your own October ride, then!

As it happens I am contemplating a C2C in  October half term school hols with my grand daughter cos we have failed to find time in the current school hols.
It's a bit of a cheat in that it needs little organisation, being route marked & so on.

If this is a one-off, my vote is for September.

I expect that you know me well enough  to know that I have no problem conceeding to superior knowledge & experience

Are slow and inept people allowed?  I like night riding, I do.... It's about the only time it isn't too hot.  Although the Dun Run was a bit too balmy for me.

No slow and inept people, I'm afraid.

But, of course, you're welcome to come!

Can we agree on this much:

1) We ARE doing this.
2) We're starting in York.

Everything else is up for grabs...

Reading back, how about Friday 17th September?  No-one's said no to that (yet).

I favour Whitby - but I'm happy to go with the majority.

I'm o.k for the 17th Sept. & I'm not fussed about the route or the destination.I intend to enjoy the "night riding" aspect as well as the usual yacf craic.

With a finish in Whitby, you southern lot may be able to get a train back to Pickering on the NYM railway!

I have a secret plan to allow mrs. jogler to collect me from wherever we finish.
It's a secret 'cause she doesn't know about it yet ;D

1) Definitely tentatively interested (it's a stupid idea, as term-time Fridays already involve a very long day at work and a 30-odd mile commute, but when has that stopped me of late?)
2) Sounds good to me.  If nothing else, I could come and wave you off (and deliver cake!)

I don't think that any September Fridays are completely undoable for me.  And although Cleethorpes isn't a very exciting destination, I actually thought that the route there was rather lovely.  This may be due to it being rather pancake-like, the rather brisk tail-wind we had all the way there plus the fact that the pub in Melbourne stayed open of course....  Of course Scab or Whitby are much prettier.

If you want to recruit some extras, various northern cyclechatterers were quite interested in doing something similar at one point.

Finish in Filey. Much nicer than Brid ot Scarborough. Fish and chips on the Cobble Landing. Nice quite route through the Wolds to it to via West Lutton, Weaverthorpe, Wold Newton and Humanby as well.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Although I wrote the original post, I wont be able to to do the ride, so if anyone else wants to organise this ride feel free to do so.

Sorry, chaps, I can't make the 17th - only the 4th in September, or the Gothic Weekender at the end of October.

Carry on!

4th is a Saturday?  That works too... and would mean that I wouldn't be knackered before I even set off  :)

I will ask her, but I doubt it, as we will be on the way to Bourg D'Oisans at the time you will be half way to the coast ;)

Sorry, I meant the 3rd, i.e. the Friday of that weekend.

If the 17th suits everyone else, just ride on the 17th :)

What about a wussy flat ride to Scarborough on the 17th, then a ride to Whitby in October to get all gothic?

I'm up for both.

We could start a " Friday night ride from York  to somewhere pretty random" series ;D

Right then

17th September - Friday night ride from York to somewhere random   goes to Scarborough

Flat and easy as you like

( provisionally)   29th October Friday night ride from York to somewhere Random  goes all Gothic in Whitby

Not so flat , but not too hard either

All welcome, cake and silliness encouraged

Edited for correct date ::-)
