Ah excellent! I can track what's going on and plan my departure accordingly.

Looks like rower40's taken a wrong turn on the Euston road and is heading for Nigeria...

All this talk of equatorial Africa has caused a rise in temperature in the Wowbagger garden. It's gone up 0.3°C in the past 45 minutes!

As I confidently predicted, the data has started to arrive and there is no silly messing about off the coast of Africa.

There is some silly messing around due to imperfect GPS reception, but that is only a few yards of errors and the path is obvious.

IIRC the tracker only uploads data every 15 minutes to conserve power.  There should be another section of track along in a few minutes.

He appears to have stopped with the ignition off quite a lot...

This is conjuring up very silly images in my head of just what it's measuring as his engine and how it knows it's "off"   ;D

Well, what do you expect at 1am, sensible replies??   :o

It probably detects whether his legs are moving.

I ought to be setting off soon but I reckon I'm only about 90 minutes form Stock and don't want to get there too soon. OTOH who knows how fast they will travel?

The serious answer is that it's not measuring anything.  Not being wired into a vehicle, the ignition signal's always off, but the tracker ignores that when the GPS reports motion.  Hence it's doing a reasonable job of detecting traffic lights on the A11, of which there are about 500000.

I'm about to set off. I don't want them arriving before me at the 11ses stop and eating it all!

This is some new extra-flexible definition of 11ses, isn't it?   ;D

Enjoy the ride.

Indeed.

Thanks - it's a shame you won't be there.

At 11ses, for a debatable value of 11. I timed my arrival well, sitting down to tuck in just as the hordes arrived. It's cold, but no air frost as yet in Southend.

At The Rose. A bit nippy. Clear sky and dawn's crack looks lovely.

As ever Kim has understood the technology perfectly without it ever being explained to her.

As another example of the fact that the tracking unit is designed for vehicles, here is what the tacho disk would have looked like if Rower40's bike was fitted with one.

I came down to the seafront, with Indi, and just missed the bikes go past. I saw bike tracks on the road surface and looked up and to my left and saw the lantern rouge in the distance. We stayed in the Westcliff area though so we could play with our balls.
The moon was particularly magnificent!

I'm not so sure that it would be a bad idea.

The tacho technology is probably a bit big and heavy for bikes. I don't see why bikes shouldn't have a physical limiter that matches the speed limits on the public roads that they are subjected to. (i.e. none)

As an interim measure, the tacho and speed limiters that are fitted to lorries could be fitted to cars and vans.

*yawn* Well done chaps/chappettes.

Bit disappointed to see no green arrows on that graph, Rower40. Must do better next time ;)
