For the uninitiated, some history*.

(*and I think 8 years is some kind of history)

For the rest: pork, huntsman or veggie option?

Everyone is welcome, and I'll see you all on 11 August, 10am for a 10.30 start from Long Eaton train station car park.

If the weather is kind there will be a second pub stop, under the (frankly brilliant) 2011 rule.

Provisional (as at noon, 9 August) attendance list:

chris n +1
Kim
jogler
tiptop
Valiant
rower 40
mike +1
Luke
Frenchie
AWL
Diver300
Me +1

If you want to be on the list (or need to come off), it would be handy to know, so we can decide how long to wait before setting off.

I know. Eight years! And I think I handed over the Cycling Plus jersey to you even before that. What was that pub?

Anyway, yes, I plan to be Mercianed up.

Unless I'm on a Longstaff.

When did I get so Midlandsed?

Yes,our C+ jersey handover was before Pie Run # 1 & it was in Rolliston.
IIRC the pub was The Spread Eagle.

Of course. Lovely building.

Ennyway - you coming? I think you're due a pie.

(I could just bring you one back, if it's too far for you now...)

My enthusiasm for pies is limited, but I'm always up for a pootle in Derbyshire and don't seem to have anything else planned, so will endeavour to put in an appearance.

Also brilliant.

Do you like beer? That isn't necessary either, I just wondered.

Alas not.  Though in my general experience, I tend to prefer the sort of pubs that serve Proper Beer™, and therefore consider it to be a good thing.

The Holly Bush falls well within that definition, and is a good pub.

 ;D you smooth talking  :demon:

I want to attend but there are some RL issues which are imposing restrictions on my ability to travel around as much as I'd like to or have done in the past.
I'll keep it in mind;it would help if you could include the date in the thread title & log it onto the calander.

Hurrah!  Another Pie Run!  I really enjoyed the one I did (two years ago?).  Great route, fantastic pub, and thrilling race to the finish (came 3rd).

Booo!  I'll have to miss this one as I'll be somewhere in Spain that weekend.  :'(

Have fun!
;D  Andrij.  I pronounce you Complete and Utter GIT

Blimey - eight years since someone put a Dawes shaped dent into that Lichfield car park  ;D

Anyway, I think that I've done the LE Mince Pie and Fixed runs but not the pie run......is it 'bent friendly (i.e. free of unsurfaced tracks and stupid gates)?  A provisional pencilling in from me...meant to be away some time in Aug so can't say for sure.

Is that the Holly Bush near Belper? The one that serves ale in 4-pint pots? The one with Bigby or summat similar as the landlord? If so, I've spent a drunken evening there talking to him about his exploits lorry driving down to Brum. A fine place, I very, very vaguely recall...

About 40 miles in old money.

Altitude gain? Zero - we start and finish at the same place.

Dunno, but given the answers to 1 & 2 above, I think it's the same pub.

If so, I've spent a drunken evening there talking to him about his exploits lorry driving down to Brum.

Do you know, I've never been there in the evening, and I've never even got past 2 pints. I might have to fix both of those things one day.

A fine place, I very, very vaguely recall...

It is.

Care to join us?
