Dunno. Given I have achieved everything I wanted to achieve in 2012 my enthusiasm to venture out in the cold, wet darkness has diminished!

Well, you obviously set your targets way too low as there are still two and a half months left of the year!  :P

   Time to test some new bit of thermal/waterproof kit?

   Fresh targets needed I think: Another Freeze Your Bits Off expedition [or given the current weather, Soak Them Until They Go White And Really Wrinkly ;D] or even a civilised trip not involving camping: I see from the current Independant Hostel Guide that there is one on the Peddar's Way at Castle Acre [as well as Deepdale].

   Anyway, this is supposed to be the social season for cycling in ye traditional calendar, between the hill climbs and the start of winter training.....

We're 18 days into a new year, I say you timed it just right.

Given that attendence has been a bit patchy recently I wonder whether a slight change of format might help. Perhaps we aim for a ride on say the second Wednesday of each month with a cheap meal thrown in. This would give us all a date to aim for and might make it easier to clear our diaries and real life committments so lots of us could turn up. Of course there's nothing to stop rides taking place on other Wednesday evening as they do now.

I think enforced work patterns and locations have more to do with availability to get out  :(
I would have been out at least for a solo ride this evening, if not meeting Tomsk, but the b%^$^y Americans scheduled me in to one of their afternoon meetings, tomorrow too  >:(

Roll on the weekend  ::-)

Anyway, I thought the original intention of this thread was for fortnightly rides!

The idea of a monthly "flagship" ride is growing on me. I don't mind doing the organising. We could chose somewhere to eat where a main course costs less than a tenner so the monthly cost wouldn't be prohibitive.

Which Wednesday evening would work best for people?  Tomsk, when is your book club?

 :thumbsup: to a bit of formal organisation!

Book club is usually the first Wednesday of the month.

Right then, let's see if my new idea sinks or swims ...

On Wednesday 14th November (2nd Wednesday in November) I propose that we meet at The Windmill Motor Inn, Chatham Green at 2030 hrs.  Whereupon we will eat their reasonably priced and perfectly acceptable food plus drink their perfectly acceptable range of beverages.

Let me know if you're interested and I will book a table  :-*   :thumbsup:

I dunno -- I go away for a few months and the spectre of FORWARD PLANNING rears its head again!  Deviants, the lot of you!
