Whoops I'm a clutz: Repair Options

My "MemoryMap" A2800 unit was left unprotected in a bouncy pannier in close proximity to tools and other tough/hard items on 30+ miles of converted railway lines, and the screen and bezel is now scratched and abraded.  (i.e. not just a few single scratches but some whole areas that look like bathroom windows.)

The unit itself still works - touchscreen and everfink.
Do I:
a) ignore it and carry on?
b) bin it?
c) donate it (as seen) to a worthy cause?  (Any takers?)
d) attempt to polish out the scratches with toothpaste?
e) obtain a replacement screen and fix it myself?
f) something else?

Any repair advice greatfully received.

What about calling them with your sad story, see what they suggest. It doesn't sound as if you have much to lose.

Acrylic polishing kit from somewhere?  I know a guy who fixed acrylic fisheye domes for underwater cameras by hand and it seemed to work OK.

There doesn't seem to be much to lose!

Or see if your house or travel insurance would cover a professional repair.

I've read that just sticking a screen protector on can mask superficial scratches - but yours may be too far gone for that ...

Best done with the unit switched off, or you might get some really weird menu options ...

T-Cut is finer than toothpaste.

I fixed a scratched GPS that way.

It is not quick.

Although I've had success in the past polishing out scratches, when I tried it on Mrs Nutty's sunglasses the other month I wrecked them as the fancy coating came off and the whole lens became much worse.
