Big mushrooms !

I know next to nothing of fungi. Anyone have any idea what these might be :









That last one is big.  Just for some scale, here's one of its friends next to my foot (size 10)

The one on the left (bottom pic) is Trainis Genericus, or The Common Trainer, if that's any help.

I'm pretty sure that's a slightly rarer specimen: novus balancii americanis

What is a shame is that they are just about on their use by date.... Will check in my books, pretty sure that they are all edible.. back in a while...

2nd photo is a Wood Blewit lilac turning brown Must be cooked...

The others I cant say for sure - I am not willing to be branded a "daft twat" by anyone! Fungi are very deceiving and as I'm only an amateur wouldnt recommend that you eat these Mal!

They could be a new Welsh delicacy, a bit like cat poo coffee.

It does look like a Lactarius.

How could we possibly dis-agree with that?

Actually my local Supermarket sells a variety of stuff like that, some imported. Must try to remember to check it out

The local pharmacien in Corlay confirmed this for me last week when I popped in with a wee pannier of finds.
 Lactarius salmonicolor was the actual one of this family I found and the verges where full of them.
Edible just, but too much of a risk of a belly ache to give to friends.
 You got to be bloody hungry to want to eat one...

Apparently according to my resident mycologist, the original identification of Lepista nuda (wood blewit) was the correct one.  No way are they lactarius because of the violet stem. Wrong colour combination for lactarius.  (So he says- I've not known him make a mistake yet)

Although he is not too sure about the first one because he can't really see the cap- is it just a different view of the other ones?

On closer inspection, (he magnified your photo- yes he is that obsessive) he realised the first one is a different fungi- not a blewit- possibly false chanterelle or conceivably a lactarius.  The others he thinks definitely blewits- but now i realise this is all academic (literally) as they are far too old and soggy to eat anyway.

'Pied blue' as the Lepista nuda is commonly known as here is sold at 36euros per kilo! (when not old wet and soggy...)
 My book shows the Lepista nuda as having a flat cap rather than a concave one.
