12lb though?  Aren't they, like, 12 kilograms?

Unique?  I think Dr. Alex Moulton may have made a certain bike with a squash ball rear suspension back in the 1960s.  And then again in the early 1980s. :)

Apart from that: a good article, especially in light of how popular Bromptons have now become.
