TL;DR: The Way to the Sea won't be happening in 2024 but instead Audax Club Hackney are offering up an Essex version on 29 June: https://www.audax.uk/event-details/11402-lets_ride_to_dengie

As some people have noticed entries haven't opened for "The Way to the Sea" for this year (July 2024) and that's because I've been needing to see if it is feasible. There's a whole load of works taking place on the bridge from the mainland to the Isle of Sheppey, making it impossible to get to the island by foot or bike. This includes the date the ride was planned, and other dates around the same time. It's open again in August, but that's school hols and I'll be away.

To avoid the section to Sheppey will mean massively re-working the whole route to make up for the lost distance. Plus finding an alternative location for the beach control in Minster wasn't really possible.

On the bright side instead Krad is offering up another Audax Club Hackney event that'll be taking on Saturday 29 June, this time starting in north London. And I am sure it will feel like an Essex version of The Way to the Sea as it heads out to Dengie instead of Hoo and Sheppey. Details here: https://www.audax.uk/event-details/11402-lets_ride_to_dengie
What on earth am I doing here on this beautiful day?! This is the only life I've got!!

Shame about the road been closed this year.

Nevertheless, I have posted my ride to keep people uptodate as well as via email.
