Best not click the spoiler if you don't speak about this around the coffee table, because some might find it a bit ewww.

Though Peli did say I was ever so romantic when I told her the good news :)

I no longer have toothache. After on an off toothache for months it became mostly on in the last two days. It got unbearable yesterday afternoon so I made a call to NHS Direct. They put me in touch with the dental person, a lovely sounding Geordie lass. She got the emergency dentist bloke to call me and he gave me an appointment in the emergency clinic last night at 20:25. After my heavy leg workout, selling a stem and a McChicken sandwich I take a taxi up there. In a dodgy area, at the Sheepscare end of Meanwood Road I was apprehensive. I shouldn't have been. The two female receptionists were lovely, took my money, £16.50 and I waited until 20:25. I was called in and a young (relative to me) Chinese looking fellow extracted a tooth and filled another. The filling is a temporary job until I can find a dentist to do a proper job.

There is bad news though.

Are you sure this is you? It appears to be someone who you might once have been.

Congratulations though

I've just got the Longstaff frame back from Argos. They've done their usual fine job - it looks stunning. Elegant and classy in gloss black with subtle gold lug-lining.

Do I build it up into a bike, or mount it on the wall as art? Pictures will follow elsewhere if I decide on the former.

I've got Sky+ Remote to work on the iPhone at last!

I can now peruse listings from the top of the Clapham Omnibus and set programmes up to record.
It is simpler than it looks.

My netbook has decided to talk to a network other than the one at work! Hurrah! :D

posted from a service area somewhere up the A1.

Got to use as much internet as I can before it goes back to stroppy teenager mode ;D.
Thanks to Nutty and Phil for all their help. I hope it lasts...

Persuaded my son to let me take the stabilisers off his bike  (apologies if you were in the park this afternoon and were one of those run off the path by an out of control 5 year old).

Hopefully the minor crash at the end didn't make him lose his confidence.

Hartlepool Utd denied Leeds Utd a point. I was in the Happy House last Monday night wearing my Hartlepool Utd dutt and someone started to give me hassle, well banter really. "Ready for a stuffing next Saturday" he said. Hee hee. I retorted anyway with "Ready to spectacularly fail to win promotion again".

After some bad news on Friday I decided to do the Lotto on Saturday, first time in  over a year. I won £10 after gambling £2. I think the odds on The Mighty 'Pool drawing with Leeds Utd were more attractive though.

I have just telephoned my Aunt Phyllis to wish her a happy 91st birthday. That's not a bad effort for someone whose birth was so premature that she weighed "no more than a bag of sugar" and who is now so blind that she cannot see me when I'm sitting in a chair about ten feet from her. She still lives alone and looks after herself, admittedly with visits from a cleaner and the library staff and we do her shopping for her.

Indeed, when I helped her fill in her attendance allowance forms a few years ago, on the section about eyesight problems, I asked her when she first noticed a problem. "Now let me see..." she said, "...1926!"

We've booked ferry and rail to Groningen, cycling town of Holland, in the school holidays and it's only a tad over £100 a person including two nights ferry accommodation and bicycle carriage!

And our friends have just bought an Airstream caravan that we get to stay in.

Good news: It's a copy of The Clarion from Friday August 24, 1917!
