I got a letter from the taxman saying I owe him several hundred pounds.  :'(

Do the calculation yourself, or get somebody who knows how to to look over it for you.  I sorted my sister's apparent £600+ bill to a £400+ credit due.

Wise words
I did this & saved £1600 which is not too shabby particularly when related back to gross pay or turnover

An 18t screw-on freewheel arrived today;thanks to interzen. Now need to acquire a tool to fettle it onto the Langster.
Said tool will be in the post on Monday, with a bit of luck.

I bought my new car today and not only are the garage going to put it through its pending MOT, they're also going to do a full service and valet *and* tax it for 12 months :)

Best of all, it looks like my Alfine 11-speed hub will be arriving next Friday

We have new tenants in our house in Wales (all signed and official now) and they plan to stay long term, GillP has a new job starting tomorrow and I have massively reduced my alcohol consumption. All we need now is for spring to come and turn everything green and lush again. Oh and I need a different job so I don't go out of my mind in the mean time.

Birt today (as one gets older that is always good news) to make it even better Barbara got me a Lumicycle LED 3Si with Pro 52 Bag, I thought my Ixon IQ was good but this is just amazing (and Sex Lies and Handlebar Tape, should be subtitled "A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do" )  ;D
The problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so sure of themselves, and wiser men so full of doubt.

I LARTed a taxifirm#2 who repeatedly hung up on my TextRelay call last week and then only reluctantly stayed on the line cos I threatened them with legal action.  I'd have let the hangups and hassle drop except their calltaker closed the call by telling me I had wasted his time so I let rip to their info@ email address!

I got a reply today from the manager apologising, claiming he's met every single calltaker 1:1 and trained them about TextRelay, offering to register my number as 'extra support needed' and generally apologising for the calltaker's ignorance and mistakes as well as their unprofessional rudeness.

I think I call that a win.  I just need to edit the printout for taxifirm#1 who I wish to make a similar complaint to for not even staying on the line line enough to take my call who don't have a non-postal contact.

I'd say that was exactly what you didn't need...

My next OU course has been delivered.

M337 - Complex Analysis
Some of my favourite mathematics.

Do not worry if this stuff makes no sense the first time around. Work to the end and then revise---it'll be fine on second viewing.

Hilary Priestley's book (an Oxford Undergraduate Text) is good for all of this syllabus except perhaps the applications at the end. I thought I had a spare copy I could pass on but can't at this moment find either of them.

We have power to the flat after over a week of none!

(Still no lift or basement or common area lighting though - have to wait for that to dry out, be repaired and be inspected - maybe 2 weeks)

My Mythtv box now gathers BBC One, Two and Three listings!!!!

This is good news as it will keep me supplied with Doctor Who and Family Guy episodes.  Shame I ended up losing the ones I already had :(
