I'm not competing with Bill, by the way ;D I do have a plan to cycle across all the bridges of the Tees in a day, but I doubt I'll be photographing many of them on that day.

Oh, gerron wi' it!  :D  I reckon I've only got a week's worth of canal bridges left...

Surprisingly (or possibly not), I have a similar idea for the River Kent.  As it's about 20 miles long, I make my plan about 75% less ambitious than yours.

98 miles, according to this slightly obsessive website:

http://www.bridgesonthetyne.co.uk/bcsrce.html

(Yes, that bit is about the Tees)

I'll have to skip most of the footbridges, and the A19 flyover ( :o), and pick a day when the Transporter's open, and time it so the Transporter's open when I'm there. Might start with the Transporter, in fact, and finish with the reservoir.

Good bridges on the Etal-u-Can, by the way. We already have the Union Suspension Bridge, so here's Kalemouth Suspension Bridge:

I see the signs point to the next one in line.

Indeed they do, so it won't come as any surprise that 110 is Beaumont Bridge

110 by billplumtree, on Flickr

Possibly more surprising are the apparent peace, tranquillity and pigeon loft, considering it carries the A6 into the centre of Lancaster.  To which end it was widened

Prompted by Dr Larrington's recent posts of his Canadian meandering, I recently found these on a camera which gets used too infrequently. All of these are crossing the Fraser river, which was full with spring meltwater.

No photo of the bridge but an unusual name

Last is my favourite ,the Kicking Horse river at Field , where we sat and watched the CP trains as we ate our lunch.

Continuing into Kendal, we arrive at the lack of 185, Highgate Bridge

185 by billplumtree, on Flickr

Signage not at first glance up to the quality at the Lancaster end, either.  Pretty enough path, though, and a rather nice lower-key wooden fingerpost sign.  And a gate no worse than moderate on the Sustrans Silliness Scale.

And deepest Kendal, 186, the rather splendid Change Bridge

186 by billplumtree, on Flickr

So named because the towpath changes from the left-hand bank to the right (whichever direction you're travelling), and the design of the bridge allows the horses to change sides without being unhitched from their barge.  Clever, eh?

It's a bit of a shame that the wet canal-y bit has to be imagined in place of the tarmac, I know.

And, as a change from canal bridges, even if it has made multiple appearances here already...

It was Wasdale Show on Saturday.  You can't go to Wasdale Head and not take a photo of the packhorse bridge, it's the law.

Almost back where we came in, remember the dewatered canal in Lancaster?  It's now been rewatered.  108, Halton Road Bridge

The rest from Friday...

Hargill Bridge:

The other bridge at Grains o'th'Beck (two rivers meet, and why build one bridge when you can build two?), the wonderfully-named Far Beck Bridge:

And into Cumbria. Bridge over the abandoned section of the Eden Valley Railway:

Look, Bill, it has a number!

And down to the Eden. Musgrave Bridge:

The above is notable for having a handy bench under a spreading ash from which to admire the view:

Just over the road, an ex-viaduct over the Eden:

Finally for now, Appleby Town Bridge:

And so here we find ourselves, at the end(s) of our journey  :'(

At the northern end, the final bridge in Kendal is 187, Castle Bridge

187 by billplumtree, on Flickr

So good they named extended it twice, once on either side:

Resplendent after its recent lick of paint, all it needs now to make it complete is some canal...

And at the southern end,  let's stop at the splendid Victorian edifice that kicked this whole business off, 107, the freshly rewatered Lune Aqueduct

That's it.  Lancaster-Kendal canal bridges, in a nutshell.  WorramIgonnadonow?

The curving, five-span, continuous, pre-stressed concrete, hollow bridge has been described as one of the most beautiful bridges in the world.
