Chris Hopkinson is having a go at the 24 hour outdoor records in Scunthorpe tonight and tomorrow, I'm sure he'd welcome some encouragement if there are any local forumites that can drop by:

I guess the record must be for outdoor velodromes only?  The 12 hour record listed in the article is 248 miles, which is obviously nowhere near Christoph Strasser's 556 mile 24 hour pace.

Article mentions 50-59 age group.

The Cycling Time Trials record for riding on the normal road is nearly 318 miles - but again, that's an open record and not age-related.

The age-related VTTA record for road riding is also considerably greater than the one quoted in the article. Often, of course, track records exceed road records.
