... After an hour spent removing 120 staples, I'm having a brief rest, cup of tea and Internet browse, before investigating fitting the replacement material (and wondering if I've got enough padding).

Now what you should have done was to install the new padding and fabric on top of the old. Bugger pulling 120 staples....

I reused the old padding, with the addition of some more.  I don't think my professionalism (hah!) would have let me leave the entire old lot of padding and covering inside.  It may also have made things a bit too bulky, and with a high risk of "staple clash", which could have been annoying.

I did use something like 150 new staples, so next time I'll be swearing at myself.

There was a saw involved, but it was the sawdust wot did it.

So, I've got ear defenders on, mask and safety goggles and I'm outside cutting lath with the wind blowing away from me. Table saw hits a knot, piece flies up, bounces off cheek and under the tiny gap in glasses and embeds itself in my eye. OUCH!!

Doctor said its not there anymore, but It hurts a lot.

At least I've got the ceiling lath finished and I was going to put the scratch coat on today, so that it's all plastered before I go digging at mums. That won't happen now, as I can hardly see out of it.

Drinking disgusting decaff while the old silicone seal round the shower cabinet dissolves. Looking forward to a bloody horrible afternoon putting new stuff on; I can never get the bugger smooooooooth.  And as Margie observes at the end of Fargo, it's a beautiful day.

Just got our declarations of French nationality away to the Préfecture again.  They sent them back almost a year ago, demanding a certificate of French nationality for our son. That took 9 months to obtain.  Since then we've been getting various other docs together, getting up-to-date originals for stuff whereof we only had photocopies or downloaded PDFs, etc. Every time we've contacted an official organism it's been "OK, it'll go out to you in 10 days" and we get it in 3 weeks.

Feeling utterly wrung out right now. And expecting, of course, the whole shebang to be returned in a week or two with a request for further documents.
