Why are there so many mobile homes and prefabs in the Severn Valley?

Just wondering - there are whole shanty towns of them between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster.  Is it some quirk of local planning guidance?

I know several people who own or have owned mobile homes in the Severn Valley.

The people I know, live and work in the West Midland conurbation and treat their mobile homes as a countryside bolt hole away from the built-up areas that they live in.
Quite often fellow family members will own mobile homes on the same site. Often travel to the Severn Valley from home can take less than an hour and people sometimes arrive on Friday evening and then go straight to work on Monday morning.

There's some wonderful cycling and walking to be done in Shropshire and Hereford/Worcester.

... precisely - the same reason there are so many in the Lake District and along the N Wales/Anglesy coast - relatively inexpensive "holiday homes"

My MIL used to have a mobile phone a couple of miles south of Bridgnorth which confused me as they lived only 20 miles or so north of there! She said it was nice to get out into the countryside now and again....

They now own one overlooking Brean Sands where they enjoy watching cars being dragged out of the sea at high tide....
