Hope the route goes via the new shopping experience on the A12?

On the way back. No point getting somewhere before the party starts.

I think I may just keep going at that point...
Turning up with a bunch of blokes in lycra at midnight might give people the wrong idea.

I have a feeling they're not open yet and might not stay open until midnight even if they have opened for business.  I'm mightily intrigued about the cocktails, perhaps they serve kebabs and Merlot too!   ;D

They are not open yet and the other stores close at teatime.

No cocktails (other than in the sense of the pun that it is) but:

The Crown at Messing this week I gather.  The Witham Peloton might like to follow THIS ROUTE freshly plucked from the archives.
I’m unlikely to make the Spa Road start, so ill meet at the pub at 9:00pm
On that route I think 9pm arrival for the Witham Peloton is a little optimistic, much closer to 9:30pm is more realistic.

I will try a short ride direct to the Crown tonight, assuming I can find all the kit and the lighting batteries have survived a 5 month rest.

That would be most agreeable!

By the way, I have your ACME winter kit tucked away under my desk  :hand:

Myself and that 50 year old fart huggy are having our tea at the Witham 'spoons this evening, we might even manage to dine alfresco.  Feel free to join us!  The plan is we meet there at 6pm.

I'm taking Acorn#1 to her school options evening tonight.  I will see what time it is when I get back.

So The Heybridge Inn - whats the bike parking options?  Seems limited to a lamp post over the road?

That’s the parking option. Bring locks.

Here is THE ROUTE the Witham peloton followed the last time we visited the Maltster's Arms / Heybridge Inn which was in October 2016.

Was it really October 2016  :o seems like yesterday...

I'll be there tomorrow, all being well - probably the usual route thru Felsted, Gt Leighs, H Peverel, Langford etc.

I don’t remember I visiting the Heybridge Inn but the Maltsters Arms is very special. If you recall as we entered the pub on our last visit a local who had watched us arrive exclaimed words to the effect of “Facking hell, we fort you lot was facking Star Wars what wiv all them facking lights!”

The bar maid, along with pulling pints and serving Snaffling Pig pork scratchings also proved adept at keeping the locals in line. It was a memorable evening for all the right reasons.

I'm planning to be out with the main group tonight.

I guess it's time to see how the ankle handles our local hill.

OD - can you grab my ACME kit if possible, please.

Sure, will you be able to carry it from Spa Road onwards as I’m not packing big bags at the moment?

Why doesn't the BFC just ride "skins" for his journey to Spa then he can wear his new ACME clobber from there  :P
