Trains back aren't terrible - there's a Grand Central at half 9 which would get you to Yarm
I might make this and will be looking at that train back.

In case you have never done this, you don't really need a bike booking on GC. Find the buffet car and get on there. There is an area in that car where the trolley used to go. The new trollies are too big for it, but two bikes fit perfectly! I have done this several times and never had a problem.

I hope so otherwise I'll be the only local there!

Sorry, I'm out too. Bit of a physical issue that probably wouldn't be helped by sitting on a Brooks Cambium. On a train to Glasgow instead.

Has OD ever mentioned his healing hands?

Actually....I would stay well away  ;D

OD could do his usual forward planning and get himself to HR for a Parmo whilst 'in the neighbourhood' ;)

Wednesday, anyone? A mate and I are going to the Nelson in Appleton Wiske.

Leaving Darlo at 6-ish, at the pub about 7. They don't do food but it's a canny pub.

(We need to see them about the 28th, don't we?)

That's why I'm going! There's always the other pub for food.

I should be there about 7 (via a couple of new squares) but Mr Smith is avoiding temptation.

We'll be there about 7 too.

(I have to ride 15-20 miles to get any new squares, so none for me tonight :()

Some notes:

1) The offroad route to Neasham is definitely shorter but probably no quicker than the road. Especially when they've just ploughed the field and large rocks have been turned into the bridleway.

2) The Nelson is still the best pub in Appleton Wiske (but the crap one does food - I recommend the scampi, but the gammon looked very good)

3) It's farther than you think to the station at Allens West. Luckily, the train was delayed by a couple of minutes, and I was at the correct side of the level crossing to nip along the footpath and onto the train, saving myself the drag back along the A67.

I don't think I'll be out next week, but I'll be around the week after, I reckon.

I'd like suggestions for any non-pub destinations for a sociable evening meal.

There's the steak night at Roots (not sure what the October & November dates would be)

Or The Waiting Room at Eaglecliffe

any others?

I find myself in the Northern Homelands tonight for Xmas....  I'm missing out on a MEMWNS run to the pub on Wednesday... Any local plans? (I've not had a parmo for a year)
