One (expensive!) American option is the Soma Wolverine, 45c with sliding dropouts so lots of options. £630 for a 4130 frame - yikes, but quite typical of the new wave of US frames. Guess the importing ups the price significantly. For that much I'd be tempted to pay more and get something built.

I looked at the bombtrack arise - again expensive but pretty cool. But no guard mounts?!?! Disqualified!
Another option is to buy a new fork (maybe even disc) and leave the back brake off?!

It's very pretty, but according to the spec, it only fits up to 28mm tyres with mudguards.
