I think I have the same damn bug. Been off-colour for a while, rode in on Tues last week, it was a struggle. Couldn't face getting to work on Wed, tried to work from home. Been losing voice off and on and coughing up lumps since then, not been back on bike. :(

Another 2 weeks and still not right.  I've not lost my voice for a while and I'm not feeling tired in the evening as I was previously but I've still got a sore throat.  >:(

I'm not coughing but it feels raw (not tingly) and is visibly inflamed.    Is it worthwhile seeing my GP again or should I just wait it out.  I don't want to start riding or swimming again until it's fixed but I'm getting fed up reading other peoples ride reports!

You certainly need to go back to see your GP.  You should not leave things as they are.  You need to ask the GP what tests they ran, I assume just the normal ones to check Hb, white count etc.  Time to push things and to see if you can get a definitive answer.  At this stage it may be worth asking for a referral to an ENT specialist.

Sorry that things aren't improving much.

Big hugs.

Hi Annie, it's nice of you to ask.  :-*
I think things may be picking up. Last week the back of my throat still looked inflamed (to me) and felt swollen. It also felt worse whilst lying down.

I saw my GP on Friday, she doesn't think my throat is inflamed and says my glands are not swollen, but as it's been going on so long she has booked an ENT appointment for me (in 2 weeks)

As it was such a lovely day on Saturday I did an easy 60Km, finishing with a ride into the wind on Otterspool Prom back into Liverpool.   No ill effects from this apart from getting slightly sunburnt!

I've been swimming today, my technique is rubbish though!  Got to get some more practice.

How are things with you?

Hi Andrew, glad that things are moving forward.  Let us know how the appointment goes with the specialist.

I am ok but my body is letting me down.  I have injured my knee :-\  This morning it is hurting to walk, all exercise is off for the moment until I can reduce the swelling and get rid of the pain.  I think it is ITBS.  Such is life.

I was starting to feel a lot better, even thinking about cancelling the ENT appointment when my voice started to go hoarse again  >:(

Anyway, ENT clinic this morning. Poked & prodded and a lovely new experience , fibre optic scope up the nose & down my throat.

Diagnosis, viral laryngitis & pharyngitis from which I am still not fully recovered.  Vocal cords are visibly inflamed.  No treatment recommended but avoid alcohol (so what do I do with the case of wine I got at the weekend?)

He said I was OK to exercise so I may go for a little UK based tour starting next week.

I was wondering how you got on.

Glad you got a diagnosis.  'Avoid alcohol' what does that mean exactly, don't stand next to it or don't drink it?  Probably wise advice.

Are you planning on touring anywhere near Suffolk?

Glad that you are able to get back on the bike. :)

Have you forgotten something?  Those tablets you are taking and alcohol, could be an interesting mixture.

I've no definite plans,  I think I'll do a circuit of the lleyn peninsula in North Wales (a place full of childhood memories) then head down the Wales/England border,  after that I don't know.   But I've never been to Suffolk..... :)

So disappointing about the wine, it was delivered to my parents last week and I brought all 12 bottles home in the panniers.. :(
