Christmas cake and Xmas Pudding! I can see a long lost relative, called del, turning up this year. Be kind to him.  ;)

I have made one at 2½lbs, 1 at 1½lbs and 1 at 1lb as a taster, you have to taste it to make sure that it's ok for Christmas day, don't you.

Marj, you are quite right.  They need time to mature and then need to be checked.

Alan may just have left it too late for this year. They should be OK for Christmas 2009.

The one we had last year had been made 12 months, I had to hide it from Alan.

Has anyone else noticed that the price of raisins has jumped up 80% in the last 3 months?
I know thhe pound has fallen against the dollar but...

Put Euros in and confuse everybody...

Putting Croatian 50 lipa coins in would confuse matters as well.

It certainly confused to tollgate at the Dartford tunnel when I did it (accidently) last week

It's been a very bad harvest for grapes this year, in the northern hemisphere at least.

'  ... a very bad harvest for grapes this year ' :'(

Does that mean the price of wine is set for a steep increase ?

One of my few remaining pleasures could be about to disappear

I can't speak for elsewhere, but Mme. R's place (Sauternes) has had a harvest like a Virgin Train, very late and tiny when it got here. They quality is expected to be very good though. So in a nutshell, yes, it will be expensive.

Blimey , I'd better get round to Sainsbury's quick before the half price Vina Maipo disappears , and stock up for the long term
