Resurecting an old thread to say that: If you like 'flavoured' ales, Aldi have on offer at the moment (£1.29) a Toffee Ale and a Plum Porter that are rather good.  ;)
Thanks for the tip.

Windswept brewery, where we have got our xmas mini keg from for the past few years didn't have anything particularly enticing on and then I left it til a bit late, so have done an order from Brew Toon in Peterheed in the vain hope it might arrive in time.

A terrifying mountain of beer is growing in the porch. We won't be thirsty during the next lock down.

We should, at some point, buy food.

Beer is liquid food. Highly nutritious. Practically a complete meal in a bottle.

Indeed.  Inspector Morse told us, or rather Sergeant Lewis, this was so, and he wouldn’t tell porkies.

Bought a 6 pack of the Beer Masters winning brew. I won't say what as that would spoil it for anyone not yet watched the final episode of Bake Off for beer!

Bake Off for beer!

Hello hello... what is this? Sounds like I'm missing something I need to see.

Took delivery of my birthday present from my brother yesterday - a case from his local brewery (Hesket Newmarket). Question is, do I hold off tucking in until my actual birthday (29th) or do I come up with some lame excuse to start early, eg it needs to be drunk while it's fresh...

I have fond memories of the Old Crown in Hesket Newmarket, especially the Doris' 90th Birthday Ale

It's a smashing pub, and the beer is superb. The food in the dining room out back is pretty good too.

No Doris's in the case, unfortunately, but all their beers are excellent so I don't think I'm in for a disappointment.

Quite tempted to open one for lunch right now, tbh.

I remember stopping for a few scoops there when doing the Reiver's Way, many years ago.  Lovely countryside that I should re-visit.

They've expanded their range somewhat since I was last there, which was rather longer ago than I care to contemplate.  The order of business was to ride there from my grate frend gNick's gaff just north of Durham in order to work up a suitable thirst, spend the evening in the Old Crown and the night in Ma Stobart's B&B next door, then ride back to gNick's the following day.

My mistake - there was one lurking in there after all.

so have done an order from Brew Toon in Peterheed in the vain hope it might arrive in time.

Yay! It arrived and as another bonus the mini keg was the one I actually wanted (Mango Unchained) that was out of stock and not the one that I ordered instead. Someone else might be disappointed but not me :)

I've not really drunk anything for 3 months, but I'm a little bored of the fruity unfined happy craft offerings now.

I'm hankering after a really good pint of British IPA.

Sadly, though I may be familiar with their beer, I've never been to Athens, OH (though I did once spend a summer in Athens, GA)

Cloak+Dagger Lazy Hustle All Day Saison, very nice, so nice esters going. I quite fancy a Belgish beer splurge – it's been an age since I was last in Belgium.

Really rating Cloak+Dagger and 360 Degrees at the moment (lovely taproom too, chaps).

Forummers with long memories may recall that in the early days my avatar was a picture of a beer pump with the caption "A pint of Curly, please, Alf!"

Well, it's come true...

I have never tasted any.

Damn fine it is, too

ETA, the review in question appears to have been removed, which is a shame.
