I can't be arsed to read the scoring system, so can I assume that it doesn't matter what a rider is designated as, he still gets points for whatever he does? So for example if I have Cav as my sprinter but he rips up the mountains and wins KOM, he still gets those points? Or do mountain points only go to who I've picked as climbers?
-
I'm in too.

Yes.

I'm in too. Team Black, White and Furry is coming to the roads near you...
(Can't believe that there's another SpaceBadger out there. Come forward the new, improved SpaceBadger01, indicating my position over imposters!!) :demon:
-
So far, so good... A respectable 6th position after yesterday. :)
-
You see - I'm serving a purpose: helping you to feel good about yourself!
-
Jens Voigt and Nicolas Roche are letting me down badly at the moment :(
-
All I can say is it's just as well I picked Cadel for my team, otherwise I'd be languishing at the bottom of the table rather than somewhere in the middle. He accounts for somewhat more than half my points so far.
Still, it's a marathon not a sprint...

I'm still pretty happy with my team, not sure I'd change anyone if I could. We'll see how worth while Cunego was when we hit something more mountainous. Here's hoping for a top 10 for the little prince.
-
I'm happy with mine at the moment too :D
-
If I could change one rider, it would be Chavanel (hopefully he'll recover/find his luck and start pulling points out of the bag).
I also have Jens Voigt, but one has to, really :) (and he's contributed more points so far for me than either Cunego or Gesink, but I'm hoping their days will come when the terrain changes).
-

Same here. I was expecting big things from him but the French nationals seems to have been a blip in a run of bad form and/or bad luck.
I've also been disappointed in Voeckler - he's been combative but to little effect so far.
Serves me right for backing Frenchmen to do well in the Tour...
The one I really wish I'd picked (who I did consider as an alternative to those two) is Geraint Thomas.
Hopefully, I'll start picking up a few points from Garate, Monfort and Cunego from tomorrow, when the scenery starts to get really interesting.

So we both picked Voeckler, Garate and Cunego, and both wish we'd picked Thomas? I'm starting to like you ;)
I'm glad I picked EBH though. He's paid me back by bouncing me off the bottom end of the table.
-
I'm most annoyed about Petacchi - I had hoped he was going to make an effort to pick up points after taking the green jersey last year.
Geraint Thomas is serving me well again this year.
Also waiting on Cunego to go uphill fast.
-

Just had a look at your team... we both picked Wiggo and Cav as well. :-*
d.
-
I should have been more careful with my choice of cheaper riders.
-
Damn, that's my podium hopes runied!
edit, last year, it was Frank Schleck that went down. What is it with my expensive purchases going out?
-
Bugger
-
Me too. Damn. Was trying to avoid seeing todays results as I watch the ITV highlights but the flaming Guardian put the story on its front page.
-
Buggeration, not a great result for me today either :(
-
One of my GC riders gone too ::-)
-
Oh, for flip's sake! Garate's retired as well now. Get back on your flipping bike, you big Spanish wuss! Grrr! >:(
d.
-
I'm slowly but steady dropping down the ranks :-\

That's annoying about Wiggo and Garate, there go my hopes.
Still, good news for me with EBH, Cav and Voeckler's stage wins [Err, I mean EBH and Cav's wins and Voeckler's yellow]. I do like a plucky Frenchman
-
I've got Sanchez 8)
-
Who are people's best and worst riders so far? as of today (the points last updated after stage 8 I think) mine are:-
Best: Philippe Gilbert - 711
Worst: Sylvain Chavanel - 0
-
Thor HUSHOVD GRM 737
Hubert DUPONT ALM 0
Juan Manuel GARATE RAB 0
-
Cav - 439
Three of mine still on zero:
Cyril DESSEL
Kristjan KOREN
Cyril LEMOINE
Next year I will build a more balanced squad :)
-
Garate and Chavanel are both on zero points for me. Chavanel is having appalling luck this season.
Top rider for me by a mile is Cadel on 773 points.
Next year, I won't pick Cancellara. Not sure why I picked him this time, tbh.

Next year you should at least aim to select riders who are taking part.
-
Really should have paid more attention with the domestiques shouldn't I. I just clicked some random cheap ones :)
-
Does anyone still have a full complement of nine riders in their team?
d.
-
I think mine are all still riding, not that its got me a great spot in the ranking.
Cav is my clear winner so far; Gadret, Porte and Arroyo aren't covering themselves in glory yet. Sanchez in 2nd overall isn't what you'd call high scoring either.
I'd make a claim about my team being a long game with an eye to the mountains, but I fear that they'd all turn into fat asthmatics overnight if I did that.
-
Cav: 439
Kreuziger : 6
I'm hoping that Mr Kreuziger will do something in the mountains. I originally got him to win KOM, but he seems to have been beaten by gravity this year.
edit. Only 2 riders under 100 and only 4 under 200. A pretty good spread I think!
-

::-) ::-)
3 riders between 2-300, 1 rider in the hundreds the rest are pure crap, including Chavanel on 0 point :-X
-
FC Shimano are 20th out of 23 :(
Never mind I'm waiting for Contador to start performing !
Also still have Martin, Millar, Boassen-Hagen and Tommy Voeckler ;D
Should be up to 19th soon !!!
-
Just heard Cunego being interviewed on Eurosport. He's in combative mood, from the sound of it. About flipping time - been quiet so far, I could do with him starting to pick up a few points.
d.
-
This isn't going too well.
My highest scoring rider is Frank Schleck.
-
My riders keep crashing out of the tour. Epic fail!
I almost feel I jinxed them by picking them :-X
-
Well despite some non starters and Braders crashing out I am starting to bubble up the table, The Schlecks were a good pick, now if they can keep it up ...
-
Well I'm last and don't see how I shall be able to climb in ranks, my riders are performing poorly
except for A Schleck.
So the last spot will be mine. :-\
I've just lost Klöden too :'(
-
Hurrah! Maxim Monfort finally does something of note in this Tour! That should bag a few points, I think.
Nope, either I misheard or the commentator got it wrong, but it was the other Maxim - Iglinsky - who topped the climb first. Bollocks.
d.
-
At the last count, I realised that I've got 6 of the 22 riders on over 300 points! My bad picks were:
- Wiggo, who selfishly crashed out.
- Renshaw, who's had the bad form to sit up after leading out Cav (here's hoping he gets a second place on the last stage like last year)
- Krusiger - he was meant to be tearing them apart in the mountains. I've only heard the commentary team mention him once and that was about him falling off the back!
I'm just happy that I'm not doing as badly as last year!
-
I have been saved by Thomas Voeckler and EBH. Well done to both of them, they were definitely worth their bribes this time ;)
-

Crikey. Having been hovering around 8th position throughout the Tour, I was reading down the list to see where I'd finished and was getting increasingly depressed as I got lower and lower without seeing my name... and then I noticed I'd actually finished second. I guess Cav and Cadel's performances on the last two stages are responsible for my late surge.
d.
-
I think I managed an improvement of thirteen or so places over the second half of the race, though there are some riders who won't be getting a renewal of their fantasy contract with me.
-
Wow! My team was always going to climb [groan] the board once we hit the mountains but I didn't expect to climb that high! When Wiggo crashed out, Garate left on nul points and I was hanging around the bottom of the table, I would have happily traded my stock of EPO for a lesser finish than that. Cav, Wiggo and Andy Schleck were my main contenders with EBH and Tommy V serving as my surprise weapons. TV was certainly a surprise but he was one that was deployed to devastating effect, while I've always had this good feeling about EBH.
It is, however, a bit strange to win with neither of my GC hopes climbing the top of the podium.
-
Kevin de Weert was a good pick for you, Mr B. Luck or judgment?
d.
-
A bit of both. "Hmm, I've got 2 credits left to spend. I know, I'll have him, he's okay and I've not heard of most of the others."
-
Quite pleased with my team (especially considering my goal was to not come last!):
Bradley WIGGINS [14] SKY 126
Tony MARTIN [10] THR 500
Fränk SCHLECK [16] LEO 1420
Damiano CUNEGO [12] LAM 711
Mark CAVENDISH [20] THR 1245
Geraint THOMAS [4] SKY 380
Edvald BOASSON HAGEN [8] SKY 924
Mark RENSHAW [4] THR 64
Roman KREUZIGER [12] AST 26
Only let down by 3 riders* (and only 4 under 500 points).
Well done everyone, and I'll take you all on again next year!
*everyone else was probably happy to see Cav win yesterday, I was more interested in shouting at Renshaw to keep pedalling and get a sensible placing!
-
...I've not heard of most of the others."
Turns out several in my team I've heard of because they're ill-fated breakaway specialists or some other bloke's lead out man. My excuse is "I'm not very good with names" and I'm sticking with it.
-
:D
I thought I was absolutely last, but not so
