Of course I saw Oaky and Acorn in tow, helping to peddle downhill :)

Is anyone about this Wednesday evening for a gentle leg stretch before my first attempt at an over distance 200km Audax on Sunday?
We missed the solstice by a day but it's probably still worth celebrating with a beer or two  :D

I could be persuaded..... David K [notp] might be up for a ride too [getting fast, has been ripping my legs off this evening - no pub stop either. :o]
Any ideas? Is the Compasses due a visit?

I will probably be absent (I am signed up for Dragon boat racing on  thurs, and if I'm still doing that then I'll be at home on Weds whilst mrs_o goes to her exercise class.)

The Compasses @ Littley Green for about 8:30, Tomsk?

I'll probably do the usual route if you are about Oaky, but I won't expect you!
I've been in Dragon Boat crews at Hanningfield Reservoir in August for the last 2 years and even got to have a swim too  :o

I won't be out tonight as I have been out most of the day or should I say moist of the day.  At least I had an opportunity to wear my fake denim Rainlegs at long last.  They were purchased from Wiggle about 2 years ago as they were being sold cheap cos you look a right tit wearing them.

We've had family over this evening so I couldn't get out to play.  Hopefully catch up soon

Just me & Tomsk out for a couple of beers this evening.  Maldon Gold, Abbots Ale and Oscar Wilde was sampled between us  :)
The ride out was dry if a little windy but it calmed down for the return home on which I was briefly accompanied by a bat who was probably trying to work out what the strange day-glo jacket was!

A nice loosener before the weekend excertions  :o

In which case I'll add another :o

    • Number 5 - I'm going to be write off on the 22nd August

It's also worth noting that a fact does not constitute a plan so they are perfectly safe in this thread

As I am never shy of a bit of forward planning I have checked the diary and found we have nothing planned for the weekend of 21st / 22nd August.  And ...

Fact number 6 - About a month ago The Current Mrs R severely knackered her left ankle.  Yesterday afternoon she visited a every pleasent looking, and more importantly very able lady physio in Chelmsford, who among other things said her recuperation would be greatly assisted by some gentle cycling   Thus it occurred to me that planning some bike rides with a purpose over the remainder of the summer might be a good idea.  What greater purposes could there be than a gentle spin to either, or both  :o of these pubs to enjoy their beer festivals and give that nice man Huggy a decent send off.

Thank you chief for the tip offs (sorry to hear about your forks, how did you mange that?)

How was the White Horse? I was in there yesterday and there was no beer on and it was dead (I was drinking blackcurrent and soda obviously). I know it's for sale, but I wonder if it will remain a pub? It's been going downhill for years and a once truly great pub may well be lost  :'(
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

The photo's may of been from the night that Oaky and I accidentally stumbled into a beer festival at the White Horse (I think that was the night we were meant to be representing the MEMWNS!).

It's appeal to me is that it's off the beaten track but sadly that seems to be what kills it's popularity as well  :-\

I can assure you that I was up against a very tight deadline what with needing to leave the house and get some photo's of the 210km windmill ride people as they sailed through Howe Street  O:-)

After a day upt north I got back at 6pm and went out for a quick 20 miler around the Easters to Felstead and then via the Compasses home.  I was complete toast in the heat and changing winds, hope the windmillers are ok  :o

I think I saw someone that we met in the Compasses one time but only remembered this upon leaving.  He also had a Compasses cycling top on

PS - I'm off work this week if anyone is out for a pootle

A wig can be useful for mopping up drips.
